Hi peeps, i currently have a HD Dvd player, and due to the format war being won by Sony i was wondering ho good the blueray player on the PS3 is?

My hd dvd player upscaled brilliantly and has Dobly True HD and DTS-HD, does the PS3 have these functions, or am i better off going for a stand alone player as i wont use the ps3 for games all that much!

Cheers

Don't know about those functions but What Hi-Fi voted the PS3 the "BEST DVD & HD PLAYER for under £500" in their 2007 awards.

So unless you're planning on spending a very large sum of money, it's a good one to go for.

The PS3's blu-ray player is excellent and even forgetting the fact that its a games console etc its a damn good player for the price and does upscaling etc.. its also upgradable.

Quality is brilliant, and it's going to be compatible with the new profile 2.0... something 90% of Blueray players can't claim.
