Steering rack / steering collum universal joint.

  Clio 182
Hi all,

Refitted the front subframe last night after getting the bolt holes repaired for the lower arms.

I’ve had a pig of a job trying to get the universal joint that attaches the collum to the rack ( one inside the car underneath the clutch pedal) to line up and get the bolt on.

Is there a trick to getting these to marry up or will I need to either drop the subframe again or loosen the whole steering collum and wiggle it in?

Pic of joint in question.

any help would be much appreciated

Turn the uj until it slots over the rack, its easy enough to do with everything in situ. Have you pulled the column when removing?

Brilliant, was having a nightmare with it last night but the roll cage is making access more difficult.

No haven’t touched the column at all, and when we were removing it one of the lads undone it and he wasn’t there last night.

will have another go in a few day

thanks for the reply
