We've currently got a total of 11 cars between us. Thats just far too many even using man maths!

No it doesn't unfortunately but we have been given a loan of a petrol genny thats enough to run a couple of lights and a grinder, what more do you need?!

Re: Djw Designs dedicated track toy project

Went down for a couple of hours myself this afternoon on my last day of AL and sort of faffed about for the first hour doing little things here and there and then decided to get stuck into getting the interior looms and ready to go into the caged shell.

Unfortunately my iphone did its usual trick of switching off when its cold outside so I barely managed any pics but here's the 3 it did before dying (with 40% battery)

On the trip down I thought it was one of the worst stereos I'd ever heard, turns out I was right.

It got a fair bit heavier than this and was around minus 2, thankfully I was at least out of the wind and busy so didn't feel cold. Need to get a couple of lights though, was working by the light of the Cliosport torch that came in the renewal pack!

And the only one that shows any progress at all!

However, the brief rundown is the lights loom is removed from the front, both rear looms are fully removed and the main dash loom is completely away from the dash and is only held in by the seat wiring. Was going to snip it but wanting the handbrake wire out of it and decided if we're doing the rest of it right then may as well do it all right!

Re: Djw Designs dedicated track toy project

Update time.

Popped down the garage myself as Johns at work and I've got the week off to do other work.

This is how it started today.

Started by getting the front up on some stands, as high as I could to allow as much room to work around it.

0386FF95-31CC-4006-876A-5448D224E105-1893-000001A25EAF8417_zpsc8f84823.jpg

Dropped the gearbox oil and engine oil

Then set to work on the drive train on the pass side, hub, wishbone, shaft, shock and spring all removed ready for new bushes, bearings etc etc

Working on the pass side i also removed the wing, skirt and arch liner.

And finished the day by dropping the coolant and removing the rad.

Tomorrow I'll do the same to the drivers side then move onto the next stage.

As always C+C welcome.

You guys are f**king batshit. I love it though.

I'd love that black ph1, I really want a tidy up project. Finance says no until Novemeber though. :(

This would be a bit more than a tidy upper tbh. I wouldn't put the money into it that it needs, just wouldn't be worth it.

Oh fair play, that's OK then as it seems a shame to kill a black one for no reason.

How many ph1 172's do you currently own between you?

Ach every car has issues, I'm sure it wasn't meant with hard feelings. My post was certainly meant as a joke. As if we'd supply the petrol, we've only got the money for the swan vestas.

They did a damn good job of holding me onto the sofa last night. Lorna didn't even bat an eyelid, almost like she expects her 30 year old husband to try on some harnesses in the living room. I may have issues.

Thats pretty normal! I have a bucket seat in my lounge that I sit in regularly :)

Yay, I'm normal. For a car geek who spends too much time on a forum and too much time and money pissing about with old French tat.

Re: Djw Designs dedicated track toy project

So that was a good Friday. We both managed to be at the car at the same time and Gaz85 even came down to help out. And get a fingernail trimmed....

Started off like this

but then we noticed this

DSC_0191_zpsbc8ee781.jpg

Subframe is a bit banana'd. Pain but we do have another so it could've been worse.

And this is why you should always fit springs that are actually intended for your car kids, basically they may as well have been chopped for how 'safe' they were

DSC_0192_zpsc2cc66df.jpg

A very quick tidy up after a short time

DSC_0193_zps825df19e.jpg

Engine loom, alternator and a few other things removed

DSC_0194_zpsc888c0ae.jpg

Not technically attached anymore

DSC_0196_zpscac950d2.jpg

not much left here either

DSC_0197_zpsb8ed6fec.jpg

and the subframe came off nice and easily. Looks like its been off before to be painted. Forgot to get a pic of the rotten chassis leg

Bit annoyed that someone has diy decatted it, we were gonna weigh that in!

1 of the 15465432154 piles of bits we have

Engine and box out

Refitting things to the caged one ;)

DSC_0209_zps04480be8.jpg

Highlighting how minging mine is at the moment

DSC_0212_zpscfe402d9.jpg

Axle off

DSC_0216_zpsba19020f.jpg

Interior 99% stripped of what we need now

DSC_0217_zps1500d1cc.jpg

And a few other things done like the aux belt set up remove, petrol tank drained etc etc

Cheers
