Tesco 99 update & Tech info

but to travel a large distance just for some extra detergents that only really do anything over 40,000 miles of use!?

  Dirty E91
Get the lastest edition of EVO, they've done a piece on petrol covering standard (95 RON) petrol from Tesco, BP, Shell and the super(98 RON) from BP, Shell, Tesco and some race fuel.

Quite interesting as they have drivers reports and also RR print outs.

It is not just a case of the RON and MON ratings, but also the additives used to achieve these figures (it is more than just the way it is refined) as they influence the even-ness of the burning. Also there is the question of the sulphur content, which apparently can affect piston and valve life (there were major problems with BMW's a few years ago).

yea, but its not like the states where a comprehensive breakdown is given. The best information we have in terms of what constitutes their fuels is, nada.

We know what the commercially available competition fuels use, but our customers just dont use these fuels. So when it comes to redesigning a chamber and piston crown, we have to work on a worst case scenario for fuel. Which in my opinion isnt such a bad thing, as the extra effort for 95ron fuel safety and efficiency equalls far better performance on 98 or 101 compared to the raw machined chambers you see other people pump out.
