The aftermath of the the 182 big service!?

  LY 200
Has anyone experienced a change in car performance after the big service?

Today i had my cambelt/aux belt service yet although the car sounds mega quiet and seems to drive alot smoother the pull in the car seems quite different (not for the better).....Is this the usual or is it just a psycological thing!?

Iv also looked at my mpg and where it usually knocks around the 38/39/40 mark its down to around 31 mpg at present!?

The only thing i can think of is the messing about with the engine has thrown the Superchip out of sync!? Not knowing much about them (i bought the car with it on many moons ago) could it be this!?

As the cars done less than 30k i take/hope it shouldnt be running out of puff just yet!!!

Cheers

Jay

any car would run abit better because of the new parts i.e. most obvousily would be an air filter when its all cloged up with dust and dead birds its a bit restrictive isnt it, cambelt and aux belt wouldnt make a difference unless its a tooth out.

its probs all in ur head mate

its probs all in ur head mate

I hope so mate!

As said it runs alot smoother and is dead quiet......I was just a little concerned that something may not be right with the chip mainly due to the mpg running lower but i guess after a new tank and long run i will have a better idea!

Who changed it, did they use the correct tools?

Most definetly i would say...A well respected main dealer alternative did it (i would post a link to there website but as they arnt a sponsor id probably get in trouble) so id guess for sure!

Get it rolling roaded! I would. I just got mine changed and it feels loads better afterwards cos mine was 2 teeth out before! Maybe yours has been put on badly?

Mine felt miles smoother after i put in some high quality oil, a good service usually does a world of good.

Who did your cam belt? Most likely the cam timing is out you need special tools to lock it all in position as the pulleys float. Phone and ask if they used the special tools for doing the cam belt. If you're handy you could check the timing otherwise it's probably an hours labour to check if you know what you're doing.

I did my own timing belt/inlet pulley change recently and the car seems a lot smoother and quieter also. The timing is definately right. If it was off you'd be a fair bit down in power.

I've never noticed any difference in the running of my car after servicing (oil/cam/aux) it. I wouldn't expect to unless there was something wrong with it. Always used good oil and done at correct intervals.

As said chaps it was a well renowned main dealer alternative (not some back street mechanic) that did it so theres no definate telling that it is out through wrong doing of the people that changed it as it may just be me.....The only way to tell for sure will be time and as suggested maybe a rolling road i guess!

I just wondered whether it was a common occurance for a 182 to come out feeling sluggish in comparison to its former self after said service!
