The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Tatton Park Classic Car Show.

Spoke with the owner. Under 9k miles from new, believed to be the best condition white RS500 in the world (which is believable as it’s flawless). Owner was offered 300k and declined. The last car of a similar milage/condition that went to auction and was sold for £600k (black car). Expectation is its value will hit £1 million by 2030. Mental seeing these were 20k new in 87 and were sub 10k in the 90’s.

How can it possibly be worth a million quid. Mental really.

Investors apparently...At that price they'll be bought by some oil rich person in the middle east and either abused or hung from a ceiling in a prospect box. Shame really.

But there has to be a ceiling for the price of them. Approaching Carrera GT money, which to my mind is lunacy

The Sierra's were huge all over the world, they were big in Australian and South African touring car racing as well as European, so there's a big market for the RS500.

i suppose if you don't care much for a Carrera GT but have a hard on for an RS500 and really deep pockets it's all relative.
I get it, I just don’t understand it. I personally can’t see the value even in the exclusivity. One million pounds on a Ford Sierra! Just seems like nonsense.

Agreed mate. I think the "investors" have ruined the market TBH. Better return on vehicles than property these days.

RX-7's, I love them but there aren't enough unmolested cars knocking about. I'd love an FD RX-7 Spirit R in Gunmetal Grey, absolute chefs kiss.

Agreed. I was like "What in the Fast n Furious franchise is that". But it sounded amazing.

Out of everything at that show, the Mk1 XR2 had my attention the most

Isn't this just a fad though, once the people born in the 70s, 80s and early 90s are dead then no one will give a s**t about about old Fords.

It is only because people who grew up in that era now have some silly amounts of disposable income, will be the same for the 2000+ lot, they'll move on to their generation.

Had a Mitsubishi evo X in front of me earlier and a Subaru forester sti behind me (on my bumper 🙄) but my day was made when I spotted a GT Turbo Raider 😍.

I seen an Evo X recently as well, first i’d seen for years, i think they’ve aged fairly well, appreciate them more now than when they were new.

Hadn’t realised they done an MR FQ 440 version, only 40 brought here and selling for 75-100k🤯
