I wasn't going to update this until there was more progress, but I realised it's probably a good place to try and source some parts before I start buying them off internet randoms.

The Clio went to the garage a couple of weeks ago partly to fill up a space in the yard, but mostly so it gets started and built so I've got a couple of months of testing before CSF next year.

The replacement engine has had a new cam belt, dephaser, water pump, crank pulley and a few other bits that went in one ear and out the other, the sump came off and the bottom end was inspected for wear which it didn't have, cylinders were checked with a bore scope and found to be mint, with the breather plate off the cam I can see also looks mint with no visible wear, the inlets have also been ported, not sure it's that's factory or aftermarket but it was a pleasant surprise.

The car was put through a mock MOT to see what it needed before it's pulled apart, nearside driveshaft is knocking, rear light clusters have lost their chrome so the indicators are hard to see, but the big one is engine loom, I've had so many electrical gremlins it's probably best just to replace it with a load of new relays and O2 sensors, we also think theres a problem with the throttle body / pedal, there's a delay like it's stalled when you blip the throttle, but that could also be loom / TPS related.

Ph2 rear lights clusters

I'm sure Ryan will be along at some point to remind me off all the other parts I left out.

There are other parts I want but they're not essential to getting it running again, so they can wait for a bit.

You're a good bloke, I didn't tag you to hurry you along or anything, it was so I didn't end up getting offered a load of looms I can't buy because you're already sorting it.

There are other parts I want but they're not essential to getting it running again, so they can wait for a bit.

With the last bit are you wanting to get it up and running and then modify or are they some more 'nice to haves' but aren't essential.

I always found with my car's the nice to haves never ended up getting done 😂

Yeah the 'would be nice' bits are stuff like rear arb, PMS shifter, bucket seats, harnesses, also need a new headliner, but none of those bits are essential for getting it back on the road, so at the moment I'm only spending money on 'definitely need', once it's running with an MOT I'll start buying the fun bits.

Sounds like a good plan, they are also bits that are more exciting so will get done.. I was thinking more like new side repeaters etc 😂
