@SharkyUK i don’t comment much in here, but I do follow the thread so I always check in when there’s an update.
I feel like I’m one of only a few that could comment on actually building a modified car - and I don’t just mean lowering springs, air filter and exhaust modifications! I’m talking the level of mods that you’ve gone ahead with and ultimately what I’ve done on every car I’ve built.
It takes a great deal of foresight to see what parts you’re going to need to keep the build progressing and it’s nigh on impossible to get all the parts in before the build commences, as there’s always going to be something you’ve forgotten. They also need a lot of time spent working out a plan to move forward, a huge amount of time fitting things, checking clearance, removing and then adjusting before things reach the final fitment stage. You need the ability to problem solve, so thinking on your feet mid build on how to adapt and overcome the problems (that will) arise. Those are the ones that can take time to figure a workaround, and for Mick, he’s in an unenviable position as he will have other jobs in that will require his concentration. Leaving project cars, then coming back to them even after a day can take a while to get your head out of one job and back on to the job in hand.
You need to have an honest discussion with Mick in regards to how much longer before you start to see progress and an estimated timescale for completion. You also need to discuss what the way forward is when he runs into snags - does he consult you first? Or does he just go ahead and make the decision? Obviously if there’s a financial implication you’d need to be informed.
I must say though, I’m amazed that he took this project on as he’s said himself there’s no money in building modified cars from a business perspective.
The time has come to forget the whole sjm debacle imo as it’s not going to give you a healthy mindset going forward with the project. The reality is, if Mick doesn’t complete the T, does that mean he will be held in the same regard as sjm? Because he promised and didn’t deliver? Or will it be because of the mess it was all in when he received it? Essentially it just becomes a merry go round.
IF you get let down by Mick the times come for you to get your hands dirty and move it forward yourself. YOU CAN DO IT, no such word as CAN’T. You’ll get a feeling of satisfaction too mate, and in reality, if you’ve got an iPhone or WhatsApp I’ll send you my number and we can FaceTime/video call if you reach a point you’re not sure of.
