The new boost bus (Subaru content)

  535d / t5 caravelle
Scooby and LPG= don't ruin the car lol.

had our crv converted nearly 2 years ago and never looked back, ok.....................its not a scoob, but talk about cheap fuel. this needs further investigation! ;)

theres a few about already.

  Subaru Impreza WRX
I think it's the best classic I have seen for a long time visually.

I have had two classics, I now have a 2006 Hawkeye and that though is a 'real' Impreza also.

Unfortunately after the Hawkeyes they lost the plot, and now they aren't even going to import them so yes end of an era :(

Yes mate, just paid my £12 and put a post in the For Sale section.

Sorry OP didn't mean to jump on your thread any qs about classics or Imprezas in general ask me, I know a fair bit and although Scoobynet has a lot of knowledgeable peeps there are a lot of tossers on there also....;)

Cheers all. What are peoples views on mud flaps? I've never been a fan but I'm starting to get a little paranoid incase the stones chip away at the paint around the wheels.

Another dilemma I'm having is over the downpipe, I can get a decatted downpipe for very, very cheap, but I'm not sure just how much louder it will make it. Ideally I don't want to raise the dead with the noise but at the same time it will free up the gas flow a fair bit (I'd imagine).

Also will be booking the car in to get an enhancement detail (not that it needs it tbf...), arches protected, some underseal put on and the calipers re painting - any recommendations?

Currently still have the 182, although can't say it's been out too much with the Impreza being here...

No need for ze flaps. Mine has >100k and no chips or flaps. Old one had strange cut down fronts and they just damaged the paint underneath :S

Is the exhaust currently standard..?

Have you actually driven the 182 since getting it ? When I got my temp 172 after the silly scoob broke, it was like driving a milkfloat on ice. Horrifyingly slow (dangerous infact lol - pull out, used to the shiny side of 400Nm and ... nothing happens....... ARGH) and did not go around corners either.

Cheers - no mudflaps for me then. (Glad to hear that actually lol  )

It has a decatted centre section with a 4" backbox but still has the cat at the downpipe. The 182 has been out a couple of times, I still do find it fun but I feel more confident in the corners in the scooby.

Also with regards to intercoolers, I've been told the newer STI TMIC's need slight modification to safely fit the classics as they sit too close to the clutch fluid resevoir, any truth in this? I'm not too fussed in upgrading now but it's nice to know in advance.

Yeah the STi one on my green car was an awkward bodge looking fitment. I'd look at FMIC if you're going silly-power ? Or just heed my advice and leave it be ;) Chasing power will just cost the earth and then more when you blow it up .. as well as steer you towards enough points to buy a bicycle

Na not going silly power - although this will be a keeper, so we may see next year ;)

Ideally I'd be more than happy around the 300bhp area. As for blowing up - shouldn't be an issue, low mileage healthy engine, I've always warmed my cars up before putting foot down (although in this, even when the temp is at a good level I still wait for a few miles, just in case lol  ) and stay in low revs for the final couple of miles home just to cool it down.

Bell mouth Downpipe makes a massive difference turbo spools up so much quicker and sounds great too. Won't affect noise much unless your running some massive jap backbox. I had h&s full Decat with the subtle scoobysport style backbox and it sounded incredible, but not stupid loud or chavy at all

Thanks for that, might go for it. Current have a Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust. If I don't like it I can always change back after all.

You don't need to touch the intercooler for 300ish bhp.

Mine had a Vf35, Ninja SportsCat downpipe, Magnex Centre and backbox, Walbro 255 fuel pump, JR air filter and made 325bhp after an Ecutek remap. Oh and a 3 port boost solenoid (sometimes necessary for refined boost control).

  Subaru Impreza WRX
Fine, and as I previously said mine had over 100k miles. Another thing is that if you just decat the downpipe you won't pass a 'proper' MOT. Your best bet is a Sports Cat. I think mine was £299 but passed MOTs on its own.

Originally there is a cat in the downpipe (which you still have) and the centre section (which you don't).

Nice one, cheers for that. Ideally I don't want more noise. My neighbours have hated my previous cars, lol. :)

  Subaru Impreza WRX
Well, you have a very loud backbox at the mo - there aren't many louder!! H&S, Magnex are a lot quieter if you are worried about noise.

My first Impreza had a Ninja 4.5" backbox, no centre-cat or resonator and decat downpipe. It was embarrassing, and annoying on the Mway. My second had the resonated decat centre, Ninja downpipe and Magnex backbox and it was a lot more refined.

My current newage has Milltek full system and is also quite refined.

You have to change it though to 'release the rumble'.......:)

Jesus. :quiet:

My Dc2 was probably my loudest, full spoon decat system with N1 backbox. Although the Impreza sounds loud, the rumble doesn't make it sound as 'up front' as some cars. If you get what I mean.

Sort of, but I used to get old peeps turning around 50yds in front of me giving me evils.....

Bit of not so good news.

Car cut out on me today going into town, slowing down to meet traffic (national speed limit road) at around 40/30 went to pop it in 3rd and 'check engine' and oil lights came on, engine died. Started up again fine though. The car idles at around 400-600rpm when warm which seems very very low. Leaving it round to the mechanics in a while anyway to get a wheel bearing done so I'll let him have a nosey.

After a good look around the engine bay there was nothing out of the normal, it's totally dry everywhere, not a drop of oil anywhere or any fluid. Only thing the mechanic said that could have caused it was a bit of dirt getting into a sensor. At least I know it's nothing serious anyway.

Rubbish iPhone pic

On the lookout for a sports cat and an uprated TMIC now.

Should of got a pic out in the yard, 560bhp Rx7, new ish M3, Escort RS and an Evo! Quite a collection. I was having a nosey at the STi in the back to see if there was anything I could buy off it but it's quite rough, lol.

Recommend the Ninja Sports Cat:

The Milltek I have on my newage at the moment needed a damn good thrashing before it would pass the emissions.

The Ninja however passed when cold.

Pop over to Scoobynet and you should find an STi8 top mount for about £250, apparently need a bit of fettling to fit though but not a lot.
