The new TV thread

I bought a cheapy projector to use in the spare room rather than buying a tv.

Sits on floor next to the bed and projects onto ceiling 😂. It’s good enough for the nights I sleep in there (when I get kicked out for snoring….)

Quality is nothing to write home about, but does the job.

Was a £600 odd quid projector I got for £99 as the company went bust, I’d have been pissed paying more than I did for it!

We went from a 42 plasma to 65 OLED and it’s been great.

TV is about 4 metres away and it’s fine, yeah it’s not an immersive cinema screen at that distance but it’s a living room not a cinema 😂

Going 77 would’ve been nice but at the time wasn’t practical, any bigger and starts to look a bit dominating in the room.

Am tempted by one of the 100inch LEDs to stick in a spare room to make it into a little cinema room at some point though.
I think we're going to get a 65, from 50.

What's good to look out for nowadays on TVs?

probably got a £1200 ISH budget.

I’d only go for LG OLED especially at that budget. Got three of them in the house now of various sizes, a 65 will be next for us when the living room TV gives up the ghost. The UI is extremely slick and easy to use.

Some people on here like the Sony equivalents too but I don’t know anything about them.

I’ve always liked the Panasonics, I went for the one with the decent-ish sound built in as wasn’t wanting to run a desperate sound bar or system.

It does the job well enough, although am tempted to add in a sub to get some meatier lows.

Not the cheapest though, you’ll get more for your money with an LG.

I’m wary about Panasonics, the cheap ones are rebadged Turkish made Vestel TV’s which are utter dog s**t.

Says 10% off under the price with a code so would be in budget!

I'd probably buy from somewhere that bundle a long warranty though (john lewis/currys/richer sounds)

Was just an example but yeah I’d probably try to get Richer Sounds to price match it.
