Tie Rods, Bushes etc... Just bought 172 '03' - THINGS TO DO AND CHECK???????

  RS Clio 172 2.0 2003
Hello all,

I have just registered and this is my first post...

I puchased my first 172 about a week ago and LOVE it. Its an '03' with 68k on the clock in pretty good condition inside and out.

So far, I have changed the oil, oil filter & have the plugs, fuel filter & pollen filter will be changed this weekend.

Firstly: I intend to change the Brake Discs and Pads all round. I would also like to change some of the bushes / tie rods etc... and some of the lower suspension components that are looking a bit rustsy. Just wanting to inject a bit of new into the car.
I bought the car with the intention of spending a little money renewing some parts etc.

Secondy: Poor radio reception! I know this has been covered many times but just to check, should I go for a new base? It is about £35 delivered and seems to be a common fault. All the wiring looks fine. I can get better reception at present by sticking a 1" peice of wire into the aerial socket LOL.

Any tips or pointers on the above would be great...

Dave

ARB bushes, Ball joints, Wishbone bushes, Top mounts, Dogbone mount will probably be on its way, engine mounts, gearbox mounts...the list is endless. there are loads of things you could do most of which will make it feel a bit better but are not necessarily worth doing.

Im gonna get my mate from next door to have a good look over it for me and give it a little service on the cheap, as you say bound to be things on their last legs.
