Tune_R Motorsport customer build. 197 Cup Tricolore Class F Race Car.

Starting to look like a proper race car.
Got the dash back in which was a total nightmare. Just got some wiring to finish before I can refit some of the panels.

Should have the inside all finished at the weekend then just the brakes/suspension bits to sort.
Russ

P was sending me pics today...his all excited like a virgin in a p**n shop.....you have done him good Russ.
So how much quicker per lap do you think this will be compared to his old 172? Hopefully the confidence in a well put together car will give him that edge.

Seat is a bit loud for my taste but looks great otherwise. Will be very interesting to see how this goes compared to the 1*2s.

I'll tell you after I've driven it at Oulton park, should give me a good idea back to back with my 172.

Still have the power side of the battery isolator to do under the bonnet and the battery to mount.
Was waiting on some bolts for the steering wheel so i could fit the quick release boss.

Looks great mate! Will keep an eye on how this develops, it's currently at the same stage as mine, what engine mods are permitted in class F?

In the workshop until midnight last night and got a fair bit done.

Springs, shocks and top mounts changed all round, rear beam bushes changed. Front discs and pads changed, braided hoses all round + new fluid and bled.

Got the front end bushes to do today along with the engine mount bushes. Started the upper torque link last night but I was tired so will finish off this morning.

Still had to mount the battery and cut off bits under the bonnet. Bit of a pain but made up a plate to mount it all on above the gearbox mount.

Took it for a decent road test and I was really suprised as its really stiff and feels like a proper race car even though it's 'only' production spec. It's mega loud, induction wise, but sounds awesome. All ready for its first outing at Oulton park.

Done its self proud today. No hiccups or misbehaviour and the customer was made up with it so I'm happy. Just got to sort at least one of my own 3 race cars out now!

Well I didn't make it to Snetterton as mentioned in my other thread, gutted as I really wanted to see Paul's first race in his new car.
Was glued to the TSL timing and it didn't disappoint. Horrendous wet race conditions meant accidents galore and a safety car for 2 laps. Paul brought the 197 home 4th overall (!) behind 3 class A cars and in front of plenty others, so class win as well, not bad for a production spec car first time out.

2nd race wasn't quite as successful, Paul nearly taken out by a 306 rejoining the track at the start. A miss calculation of fuel needed meant he didn't finish either but overall a good weekend with the car showing promise.
As expected it isn't quite as quick in a straight line as a 172/182 but there's not much in it, certainly better through the corners and on the brakes and it's far more stable in the wet too.
Well done Paul, catch up with you at Silverstone hopefully.
