going to look at a v6 2moz mk1 on a 51 plate £15,000

at the min i drive a 02 172 as a main car just wanted to no if i will be able to use the v6 in the same way (apart from shopping)

also wot mpg to u get out of it im getin 25 out the 172 but do give that some hammer lol

cheers tom

Hi Mate,

You gotta take more care in a V6, for things like parking, going over ramps etc. V6 is much lower than standard 172. MPG i get is about 22/23, better on a run, but if your caning it, dont expect much more than 18!! Other thing to be aware of is all the attention you will get from everyone. Owning a V6 is a fantastic experience, for the drama & noise alone. Youll find it aint much quicker from a standing start then you 172, but youll have bags more mid range. If its a good one, you gotta get it!! youll never look back.

I get about 23 out of mine. You can have a lot of fun in a Vee, but go carefully if its wet! Its a perfectly good everyday car. I use mine for shopping every week by the way :D The only problem with shopping is the crowd of kids pointing their camera phones at your car when you come out of Tescos :p

Services cost about the same as a 172.

If its tyres are worn new ones cost quite a bit. Clutches seem to be a bit iffy.

does the car still have a warranty?

Only thing really to look our for is damaged bodywork & fragile gearboxes.

If its still got a warrenty, you aint got nothing to worry about. Check the service history.

Sericing isnt too bad, oil change is £85, full service is £200. Keep an eye on tyre pressures, & check the wheels for kerbing, they are expensive to replace.

Other than that, look after it well & youll love it.

Ill just agree with the others - very useable as long as you remember its a bit French (which youre used to) and a bit handmade (which you might not be).

I get about 19mpg on average, but then I dont do any motorway work in it.

What is the mileage on the one youre going to look at?

good lad! living the dream!

you not worried bout insurance costs? would prob be well over £1000

i also want one and the mk1s are tempting!

bt of a shock to hear the servicing is similiar to a 172/182! thats a surprise.

good luck tom i hope its all you want it to be!!

first i would check you can get insured and afford insure it ;) I had problems getting insurance as most insisted i be over 25. All the problems seem to of been mentioned already, one thing i will add though is if you get one take the time to learn how the V6 handles, they drive totally different to a 172. The 172 is very forgiving compared to the V6. I get about 16/17 mpg out of my mkII.

cheers 4 all the info lads so apart from the gearbox they seem ok. same as the 172 really then no a lad that killed a 172 box at 19k lol.

the car has done 25,000 miles not sure if it has any warranty.

insurance in not that bad about £1600 with elephant paid £2500 last year on my 172 (that hurt)

tom

I am physically incapable of more that 22 on a motorway and more than 18mpg combined is just nonsensical. Maybe I should discuss this with the lead sole on my right foot......

Over 51k MPG = 30 MPG all long motor way trips.

Rear tyres every 12.5k £114 each

Front tyres every 25k £120 each

Serving every 12k about £200

Set of pads

Thats the running costs

Replaced 1 fog light (stone)

Replaced front rubber strip £130

Thats about it

Sorry its so off topic but....

Clarkie, I just bought a 172 and was looking for somewhere decent to service it etc, Im in Torbay and work in Exeter :)

Message winging its way to you....

Actually I remember seeing that V6 when I was going ot pick the new car up, you were all in a convoy on the A30 honiton bound, I passed you all at the lights just before the Exeter airport turnoff in my monster corsa hire car :)

just picked up that you can handle ur mates Evo .. not being funny or owt but ANYONE can handle an evo .. they are that sure footed and boringly predictable .. the Vee aint !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah dont try and drive the v6 like an evo. Will make for a very short or expensive ownership.

Spinning in the rain, just spinning in the rain. What a terrible feeling Im crashing again! (sung to tune of Singing in the rain)

clarkiev6, I do like things to be correct, and this is a little off topic, but just to let you know that your Clio V6 Mk1 advert on your web site is not quite correct. I think youll find that the Mk1 Clio V6 was manufactured in Silver, Red, and Blue. AFAIK there were only 8 Blue models manufactured.

Cheers, Steve.
