what would be the price difference betwen the second hand value of an import 172 against the dealer supplied car if the cat 1 alarm w 172 was waas fited to the impor so basically they are the same car. my 53 reg was 2750 pounds under list price, would the second hand price ever have a bigger differnce than that ammount?

an import will be worth less.commen sense really you payed less for it when it was new so it will be worth less second hand.

I expect the buyer would need to know it was an import and might expect to pay a lower price.

but a lot of the money you pay extra for is to provide for the showroom and forecourt and tv advertising that the dealer pays for, you are not getting a better car!!!!!. on the second hand market, an import(I hate that word as all renos are imports) and a dealer car out of autotrader should realistically be pretty similar priced or is that just wishfull thinking.... going back to the original question.. HOW MUCH of a price difference can you expect??

You guys back in the UK should think yourselves lucky, My 172 cost 27,000 Euros with Sat nav extra, in Febuary of last year, with the exchange rate back then it translates as 17,763 Pounds. A todays rate its a whopping 19,014 Quid. It might be cheap to buy a imported 172 from Europe, but its not cheap to buy one over here:D

Im sure it was worth it though ;);) , typically a new import 172 costs about £12,000 OTR

It was worth it, best car Ive ever had IMO, and Ive had a few. But technically I didnt pay for it, the company did, which means I cant fiddle with it, and it has to stay Std, apart from the Chorley FM sticker in the back window:) On the plus side, I dont pay for servicing, fuel or tyres, so its not all bad.

does anyonr know why the 172 radio has LW but no MW, a friend of mine was in the car for the first time at the weekend and couldnt beleive there was no MW to listen to 5live...
