went to look at this car!WARNING DO NO BUY THIS CAR!!

saw it in auto trader, so rung the guy up, who lived in liverpool. spoke to him said it was immaculate condition and and out, i asked if there were any dent dings etc.. said he no, it was all fine. it just had its 1st mot that week, its a 52 plate. so thought..result ill go up and buy it..

got there, looked at it.. below are te problems it had:

> Dent in roof above drivers door and smaller on above passenger door

>scratched wing mirror

>Service light was on

>doors kept locking by themselves...? then when unlocked he opened it and the alram went off

> and the main thing!!!! he wasnt even the ****ing registered owner on the regristration certificate.. he said it was his girlfriends car.. her name wasnt even on it!!!

i said to him.. u cant sell a car unless u have proof of purchase.so he shrugged his shoulders and said.. well it is my car i bought it.

wen i go there i immediatly noticed that he had a mate with him parked behind in a blacked out BMW X5..

****ing ****** completely wasted my time, i was told not to trust a liverpudlian (no offence), i should of taken that advice and not even gone. the ****ing ******.

My doors lock themselves if you dont open them after 15 seconds of unlocking. Also, the alarm can go off if you open the door just that bit too quickly after pressing the button. Quite normal and nothing to worry about.

The dents and scratch thing is a bit of a sh*tter though.

Don't let this put you off when you look at the next one, the doors will re-lock if you unlock it then leave it for a while...and if you unlock it and open the door immediately the alarm will go off, one of its many quirks!

Also, if you go for a test drive and they tell you its cold, you will know if they are telling the truth because if you pull away without letting it warm up it will go into "save its ass" mode and feel like its hitting the limiter at about 3000rpm for a minute or two, then all of a sudden you will feel a surge and it should be fine.

i asked for a detailed description before hand and he told me it was mint.. when it wasnt. i think that sums up what kind of guy his is..

it did cross my mind that the doors to lock after a little bit, wasnt too worried about that. service light didnt help convince me either. prob was only the cable under the seat, which is a manufacturing fault, but how can u tell from just seeing the service light on, im glad i didnt touch it. so glad.

yeah he said he bought it off his gf.. and neither of them had it registered, said his gf never drove it as she bought a 307cc.. but origonnally on the phone he said the 172 was too fast for her.

SOHROB- i just want a higher bhp figure to start modding with, id have to spend alot on get my gti to 170/180bhp. 170is a nice figure i thik.. to get upto 200ish.

only breather mods on the gti. pugsport sports cat, supersprint 4-2-1 mani, simota induction kit, morrettes etc.. stripped too.

stevo. with those mods i reckon(getting RR'd next sat) its running at 135bhpish.. they are 120ish standard. very light.. thats about it lol. they respond very well to breather mods. i can just hang onto the bumper of a 172 cup i reckon.. but thats redlining it. and dont like putting my car through that!!

nah, i had a mate who had a vts saxo, chipped cammed, 4 branch manifold and mine was standard, twas quick, but not 172 cup pace..... proved many times

must of been something wrong with his engine if it couldnt keep up with a 172 cup.. especially if it was cammed.. chipped/mapped and breather mods.. granted the cup is a 2.0ltr and would have the advantage top speed etc..

cup is margially quicker than a standard 172, has the quickest book time, nothing wrong with the engine had a rolling road session at skip brown cars (pug specialist... run rally cars etc) and they said it was spot on for the mods done to it
