What part of this num is my engine number

chaps - filling in my V5 to change the engine number and the bit of paper the mechanic matey gave me has this written on it:

"F4R S7360
B671584"

My old Engine number on my V5 was 7digits with 1 letter at the beginning so im thinking its the B****** number but unsure

Anyone confirm?

F4R S7360 is the engine code, and the second number is the fabrication number of the engine. Not sure which one the V5 wants or even if it is one of them.

F4R is the engine type much like Escort is a type of car.

s7360 no idea should be the engine code but it should be 730 your code is probably a rebuilt one so it doesn't have the same code.
The D bit is the engine serial number.

Well, on my V5 my details say "Engine Number: C014318" this was my old engine so it kinda goes in line with the number the reno techie has put above for the new one "B671584", one letter followed by 6 digits.

The problem is, on the V5, the box to amend the engine number is massive and has 20 squares for 20 letters... seems a bit silly only using 7.

Different manufactures will use different lengths of engine serial numbers I imagine.

S7360 i think means that its an exchange engine

F4R 736 is the part number / engine code

B671584 is the engine fabrication number which when deciphered gives you the year, month & day it came out of the factory. This is also used as an ID number on the log book

The numbers he has given you seem wrong to me - engine fabrication numbers usually begin with a C

Ah really matt??.. bloody hell ...

I suppose then the best thing for me to do is take a look in the bay and find the number myself... i guess you know what my next question is going to be huh!.. dont worry, i'll search (mods )

its stamped on a stainless steel plate on the front or rear of the block, hard to find
