What wax for a 172 Iceberg Silver ?

I wouldn't mind trying another wax on my 172 which is Iceberg Silver.

I am currently using Collinites 476, before using 476 i clay barred the car (about2 months ago) followed by Srp and Jeffs Acrylic x2 then the 476 x2 and Porrboys Wheels Sealant after every 4th wash.

I then topped the car up the last week with Jeffs Acrylic sealent again (Dunno if it adhered to the Collinittes mind you) :S but it came up ok.

I quite fancy trying another wax i can use on the top of Srp and Jeffs Acrylic to se if theres anything better.

What do people suggest ?

I struggle to spot any difference looks wise on my Silver 306 whatever wax I use.

I use the AG SRP and AJT and either top with Megs #16, P21s or Zymol Titanium.

So i take it the 3 waxes above give about the same results wise ?

Appearance can't be split - #16 wins hands down in durability though, P21s is the easiest to use.

I've only ever used SGP and EGP on my silver one and I've always been happy with the results.

i use p21's on mine and gives a nice shine. doesn't last all that long but i clean my car at least once a week so it ok.

I used P21's before Collinittes.

But was unsure how long it'd last so topped it up every 2 weeks or so

You've got an excellent gloss already there mate, don't think you'll see much of an improvement over that.

Might be worth going for a different look and trying to get all the flake out instead? Layers of AJT is supposedly good for that.

Try Zaino Z-2 and Z-8 for flake pop....unbelieveable!

Good job I did! it was fluctuating .004 off of ideal target. We're back on track dude. P21 FTW.

I'd suggest Victoria Collectors for a wax. It looks stunning on silver and all my car really wears. Or as mentioned above Z-2 followed by Z8 for amximum flake poppage and slickness.

And if i was gonna use Zaino, would i have to SRP paint to remove the 476 and then use AJT then Zaino ? ?

You'd probably want to polish first to get the Collinite off, that's stuff's durable. There is a Zaino Z-somethnig that is excellent to go with the rest of the range.

Won't need the AJT if you're going Zaino.

If you are wanting to go down the Zaino route and are looking for a cleaner polish, then Zaino AIO would be the one to go for. It is pricy, but does leave a beautiful finish.

You could definately use SRP though to remove the collinite and that would also form a nice base as Zaino doesn't seem particulary fussy about what it goes over.

For finishing this would be the ultimate kit, but you could after ZAIO just use Z2 or even Z-8 and get a lovely finish.

One thing I will say is to try and get your paint as defect free as possible, as the Zaino tends to highlight swirls. If not try and get a few (4 or 5)layers of Z-5 down, as it has suprising filling abilities.
