Whats wrong with my mothers desktop?

4 years old, Windows xp, 1GB ram (I know !) Some Dell POS

Basically it starts fine and works fine in safe mode

Starts ok in normal mode but keeps crashing with Blue screen of death after a few minutes. Virus checked and fine (Mcafee) defragged etc

Thoughts people? I know I haven't given you much to go on but by all means ask questions

I have no real idea but would take a wild guess at overheating. Open the case and give the CPU fan a good vacuum.

The blue screen will show an error code, note this and google the error code for a better idea.
