When spraying an engine cover..

Car  BG 182
Should I use lacquer afterwards? I spoke to a friend at work and he said that it may be liable to crack?

Ive just put the last layer of spray on and it looks like a matt finish.. If i use lacquer would it give it a gloss finish?

Thanks,
Dan

Yep the lacquer gives it a gloss finish, i just finished spraying my cover too, i was under the impression more lacquer would make it more heat resistant, opppps

You don't need heat resistant primer or paint . If you don't laqcuer it after you've sprayed it , it'll scratch very easily . A few coats of lacquer , job done .

depends what your spraying it in, 2k paint wont crack and the laquer will give a good shine. if you use aerosol its not going to look as good.

^^^ I beg to differ . All done with aerosols and lacquer .

Snap on the engine cover....someone else has an arctic blue Clio or similar? I sprayed mine today with normal plastic primer and normal spray paint. Had 3 layers of laquer but not glassy enough so going to add to it tomorrow I think. HAs come out ok, although it was done with an aerosol as Halfords didn't have any tubs to put mixed paint into otherwise I'd have used a compressor. Boo. Just ordered the 2 lite 16v stickers though - good link!

Interior looks mint! I bought some lacquer today so hopefully getting that done tomorrow on my day off.. Ill post pictures of the finished product ;)

Going to be doing mine soon when I can make some space in the garage

that all looks well smart. i might be doing my engne cover a shiney silver to go with my cda and strutbrace, and the interior bits the same.

It does make the engine baY look so much nicer! Also a plus point when coming to sell the car.. Everyone wants to see the engine and if it looks presentable it leaves a good impression :)
