Where would you're money go???

Am gonna be on the lookout for a phs 1 172 as of next week. Have set myself a budget of 2k ish, with a little bit of flexibility....
Given the choice of a mk1 with say 85k on with fsh and a 172cup with 120k,fsh and recent belts, where would your 2k go?

Ps only do about 5k a year if that influences your choice...

Think I know what I'm gonna do, just interested in other peoples views

Easy-- A PH1-

With a 2k budget & waiting around a bit for the right car I bet you could find an enthusiasts car with a bit of mild tuning on it already that drives as good as a cup- you of course still then get a reasonable interior barring the steering wheel-
I bet I could get a sub 70k car for that budget-

If your stretching a budget to a car then you cant afford it -- simple really-
Also with a 120+ mileage car thats probably been driven hard you are at a bigger 'risk' of having to spend money on components like wheel bearings etc etc etc-

Im not saying there isnt a risk with a PH1 as its older, however id plough my money in a PH1-

Blue or black would be my choice ( there was a decent one on here that went for 2300 the other month in blue )

Tbh phase 1 is still where I think my money is gonna go..
that's what I began my search looking for, and if I ended up getting something else think I would regret it.

Ph1 172. I love cups but theres just something about the ph1 172 that does it for me.

Cups and ph1's are my favourite RS Clio's though.

A cup with 120k on it, but FSH and recent belts for 2k sounds like a good buy to me! Would probably be mainly motorway miles anyway. Is it HPI clear and standard (no 17 inch wolfrace wheels)?

I've just seen this Cup on Autotrader... I'll go and have a look on saturday! If its a shitter i'll let you know... if it's not i'll post pics of it on my driveway!

I'm in a lucky situation that if it needs anything I'll just nick bits off my Cup sitting in my driveway feeling sorry for itself.

However, if I had just £2k I'd be trying to get a nice ph1. I'm considering a ph1 and putting my dash in it! (and my rear end!)

Ph1 in a colour other than silver. BUT whatever you get budget for having the belts done. Best to knw they have been done and properly, than to beleive a bit of paper that says they have been done

Love the seats, but agree on the dash and trims etc. Would swap it for a black or darker dash etc, but dont want to ruin the value of it!

Only other car i'd consider is a N15 Pulsar Vzr, but try finding one. Perhaps a Civic Vti ek4, but seem to be suffering from scene tax. Clio it is!
