Whining noise on start up....

Had a whining noise from start up for a while. It quietens down after about 2 minutes of running and cant be heard when warm.

Today I had the front bumper off to get it repaired and started it to move it and the noise was very loud so I investigated at the front and tracked the noise down to around the alternator. It was quite oily to so I have also taken a picture... is this common?

Cambelt was done at K-tec 19/10/09 approx milage 40-45k.
Milage now at 57k.

Any help would be good...

Strange place for oil as PAS fluid is typically red and there ain't much else around there, does your alternator get hot by any chance ?

Mine does exactly the same, and after 2 minutes its quiet.

Mine does this too, loud whine for a couple of minutes and then silent until started from cold again.

It was doing this when Renault changed my belts and they never said anything about it.

Mine does it too, its had the belts done and a new pas pump. I just ignore it!
