who fitted their rear disks 172 themself

Car  2005 Impreza WRX STI

if u did, can u remember the first thing that goes back on the stub axel? i have the disc itself with bearing in and then a little metal circular thing with a lip on it and then some sort of spacer that fits in the middle! this mysterious spacer thing is what goes on axel first correct? can anyone please find me a part number for it as i ordered the wrong bit from renault 6000073518

Thanks

Paul

I have done them on MK1 myself.. There is a metal sort of thing that goes on axel first with a lip. It is a sort of seal that fits to back of disc nce on axel.

i did them myself. are you talking about that ring thats seperate above?

if you are, then i didnt put it back onto the new discs as it looked like it was already there?
you both got me worried now.... Heh

see that gold thing in the pic, thats what i need! dan, does that just sit as it is now in the disc or do u have to flip it over?

it flips over, however like i said it looked as though it was already in place in my new discs.

if its not part of the new discs, then ive been driving for a month without them! lol.

i dont think mine did  they never anyway as i had to use the old ones! it shattered to pieces when i tightened the hub nut back up?

damn, im paranoid now...

Paul... if i dont end up having to fit the rings, then i have some for you.

not sure if i need to fit them or not?

who else got renault discs? or did u boys get aftermarket ones? i want to no if i was supposed to get that spacer thing with the new discs?

i think its the loose part in your photo dan but just the GOLD bit? benR gave me a part number and all i got was the silver outer edge (shown on top of the disc in your pic) that wraps around the gold cenre bit. in the diagram it looks like one complete part? inner gold bit and outer silver?????

i didnt get either with my new brakes off yoz

Reno rear disks come complete with the bearings in or at least mine did!

Sorry not much help as I didnt fit mine, got a nice mechanic to do it for me! :)

if u find out yours are fine mate could i be a gypsy and have yours  lol hopefully renault can sort it out for me tomorrow!

Brian182 said its like a bearing seal that sits on the hub...it stops grease getting out and dirt getting in. anyone confirm? and part number? lol

just done mine with me mechanic mate, you deffo need that, it goes on the stub axel first, then the disc with the bearing, then the big nut, it stops all the sh*te getting into the bearing as said above, and mine had load of sh*te behind it, with out this fitted itll all be in the bearing and fcuk it up
