williams air filter

  astra coupe 2.2

had a good look around the engine bay yesterday and decided to take the air filter off for a clean. i noticed that the air feed pipe from the bottom of the box was not connected to the air feed hose that comes from the passenger side wheel area*.

question is, is this all supposed to be connected together, cos i used a bit of duct take for a quick bodge job for the time, and secondly*where does the air box get its air feed from cos i tried following the feeder tube and it goes up into the bumber somewhere????? confused.... i am....but i hope you can understand what im going on about.

P.s - the air filter was minging, even had bits of straw in it!!

If you take the cover off that covers the bottom of the bumper and goes up into the wheel arch. Its just one 10mm bolt under the car, the rest of the inner arch is cliped in, you dont need to take it all off, just bend it out the way and have a look

The tube goes through to behind the bumper and back up towards the rear of the headlight.

And yes the pipe is supposed to be connected. mine comes off too.

The hose goes down from the underneath of the air box to a bit of tube that goes through the NSF subframe and then another bit of tube attaches on the other side of this, just behind the NSF foglight. The actual intake end of this pipe just sticks up vertically underneath the NSF headlight.
