My new 172 Cup track car.

That steering wheel looks a mess. Is it really as bad as the picture portray?

Personally couldn't have it looking like that, no matter how cheap it was.

No offence but I think it lets your car down.

It's not as bad as it looks tbh. It's not perfect but it serves a purpose. This isn't a pretty track car, by any means.

I get that, and it makes perfect sense.

Just the wheel looks like someone has wiped their ass all over it lol.

Maybe a little brush up would make a good difference?

I wanted to clean it but Gary's rough as toast, with shards of glass for a topping

Managed to fit my PMS stud kit today, for my trackday on Sunday:

Yeah, the jubilee clip was loose. I packed it up and re-tightened the clip.

Going to Halfrauds tomorrow to buy a 17mm deep hardened socket and a decent snap bar as my other wheel brace isn't deep enough.

Don't buy an impact socket mate as it won't fit on 90% of wheel bolts due to its diameter. Also try and check the socket you get on the nuts as the newer Halfords deep sockets have shallow hex in them and smaller than 1/2 straight through so studs won't fit through.

I've got a normal 17mm deep socket I can take in to check the diameter, before I buy.

Technically, only impact sockets should be used on an impact gun. Normal sockets are for hand tools and any warranties will not be upheld if used on an impact gun. First hand experience!

At only 100Nm normal sockets will last well but it's up to you.

Impact sockets are actually softer than normal sockets so they absorb some of the shock loading that go through them. Snap on ones are definitely like that. Plus the chrome vanadium can chip off.

Cracking day at Knockhill yesterday! Slight problem with the TDC sensor but with help from @Andyrg I was back on track without missing a session. Also thanks to Stu. for selling me some Speedline Vega's (Valver wheels).
