So new starter still didn't cure my issue.

So brought a few other items to tidy things up a bit.

I've also removed my ktec exhaust and ktec decat so they're for sale now.

It's not a stealth exhaust, it's the recessed system. not sure how much as the previous owner has cut and sleeved part of the exhaust. Made it easier to get off and I'll supply a new sleeve. I'll get some pics

Clio wise I've started ordering bits for a rebuild over winter, suspension wise atm but will move onto the engine too.
Might make a spec list as so I know what's what I reckon.

Sorry if I've missed it, but what was causing the starting issues? I'm just doing a battery relocation at the moment on my 172, so looking to avoid any pitfalls.

Hi mate, any chance you can tell me the distance of the end of the backbox silencer to the bracket bolted on the rear for the exhaust? I need something similar to align my Ktec recessed and only have 40mm to play with. Did you have to cut your bumper again?

Cheers.

The distance to the aluminium mount or the extra mount that PMS have added?

Yeah had to recut the bumper. Currently making a carbon panel to tidy it up

Sorry, the distance from the back of the backbox (not the tailpipe), to the metal on the car that the extra PMS mount bolts on to.

Car is absolutely awesome by the way, I wish I had the seemingly unlimited funds that you do :p some real quality kit and workmanship going on here!

Haha I seriously don't have unlimited funds wish i did haha.

I'll have a look tonight as I'll be in the garage tonight trying to figure out why I suddenly have no compression :(

No probs mate.

Nah doesn't sound good at all. Compression test see what's what and then pull the engine out if all isn't well haha

It's just over 90mm from the back box it's self to the metal part the extra mount bolts too.

Hope that's right and helps.

The ktec exhaust I took off mine was a lot bigger and heavier than this PMS system.

Thanks matey, as I thought the Ktec backbox sits further forward :(

Thanks matey, as I thought the Ktec backbox sits further forward 😧

Yeah thought the same.

I'd just make the bracket solid. So it bolts to the car and then just weld the bracket directly to the back box rather using a rubber mount

I originally used spacers to move that rear bracket further away from the back box as it knocked on braking/acceleration. PMS kindly cut the bracket down making it about 10mm shorter. Im guessing its due to the 182 manifold pushing the exhaust system further towards the rear bumper. fyi

Any picture of you mount sonny, I have the exact same problem you had stated above

Put the front bumper back on last night and placed the passenger seat in place to make it look more like a car

Can't decide whether to pull the box and lump out for a refresh now or use and abuse it for a little while. I really want a standalone and custom loom making but struggling to find someone near who's willing to do it.

Least not doing that I was able to bag a cup box with diff :) silver lining and all that lol

I wanted all the UCH gone mainly. What can you do then mucka?

Well from what I've seen of some of their looms that was possibly a blessing in disguise also mate. They may well do looms to suit budgets though, so this would explain the quality of the one I saw.

I've just stripped my original cup loom back and it's getting ready to be re-covered with proper raychem dr25. Obviously mines a bastardisation of the cup and 197 loom. Just need to finish it!
I'm running the gen90 ecu as well to keep it looking neat. Not a fan of piggybacked ecu's one bit.

Im still running the UCH with Gen90, and trimmed my engine loom down to bare minimum (no VVT, lumbar sensor wires etc) as they are all redundant now.

How you going to pull the box, out the top with engine or drop subframe?

Maybe, the looms I've seen in their own cars (white mk1 Clio/yellow 106 gti) and in my mates Saxo have been/look awesome. All covered and plugged etc. haven't seen any others tho so.

The wiring is so complicated on these bloody things. I was thinking of putting a ph1 loom in as I read there not canbus? Not sure if that's true tho lol but then would need DBW sorting lol

I just hate all the wires under the dash and fuse boxes etc.
maybe I should just fit the rs2 and get the standard ecu mapped and use it lol.

Does the gen90 come with a base/standard map so you can start the car?
I seen in your thread you've trimmed the interior loom down, did you have any issues cutting the wires?

I seen people having issues who have done.

Not sure yet on the box, thinking I pull the engine out fit some arp bolts and clean the bay.

How do you do it mate, out top?

Yeah I don't doubt that at all mate. The one I saw though was poor to say the least.

Nah your not going to achieve anything by fitting a ph1 loom mate, other than causing yourself unnecessary grief. Trimming these looms back is fraught with danger as well. I've seen more failures from people attempting to trim the loom back than I've seen success, and having done the job on my own cup the weight savings are minimal.

Definitely worth getting it mapped and using it though. That way it gives you the chance to see if you feel it needs any additional upgrades elsewhere.

Oh and engine and box out the top is piss easy mate. Bit of a jiggle to do, but substantially easier than dropping the subframe etc imo.
