Lancer Evolution Appreciation Thread

I think (and hope) that the 5/6 will go silly once they hit 25 years old. They're the special ones in the range, have appeal worldwide and crucially weren't available in the US.

The 8/9/10 were all available in the USA from new, and I don't think will ever get the 'R32 GTR' price effect.

A 7/8/9 will still be an appreciating asset, as more and more rust away and get broken into pieces.

Guy F was saying that he really struggles to shift anything 7+. Everyone wants the 5s and 6s.

Plenty of V/VI that haven’t sold for yonks, same goes for the later models. Cracking examples of all model variants will sell for good money.

He said they just tend to sit around more. Jon said the same a couple years ago, but I guess it could be because a lot more of them are UK ones and tend to have had a hard life. Your time warp bus excluded. :ROFLMAO:

Checking some of my old evos they seemed to have died 10 years ago. Probably rust.

Was looking at pics earlier and have some of my 6 sat there in the snow, can only imagine it turned to a pile of dust after soaking up all that salt

My mate is trying to buy a non rusty Evo 5 and it’s not easy! He had a fresh import lined up with an importer, it was ready couple weeks ago. He sent me the pics through and it looked amazing in white with the orange indicators then I saw the underneath! Chap had undersealed it with black waxoil everywhere. I told my mate to leave it unless they had before pics, they did but it was rough as a badgers arse.

I did try even a wanted ad on MLR, but nothing.

I wasn't even looking for a 5 but paid a bit through the nose for a good one, and I only really bagged that because of lockdown or I would have missed out.

Lots of Jap imports landing now with underside issues, not guaranteed to have mint underside anymore.

Yep. They still have really bad cars over there. Isn’t it a case now of the only good cars are from down south?.

I’d imagine the US military are to blame for a lot of that. They love the imports and have a base on Okinawa, they seem to rust really bad there. A couple of the lads have YT channels and often say how bad they rust there because of the location.

Not sure tbh, I reckon the Evo has reached a milestone in age where the tide is turning - 7/10 cars going through auction look ropey as. Odd gem but they go for big bucks.

Glad I got back on the ladder when I did as I would be struggling now.

One of the sites has under-car scans now from what I saw on FB the other week.

Going to get a lot harder for some of these traders to hide things.

Saw this on Facebook earlier, been sat there for the last 5 years and the owner won’t sell apparently.

Give it another 5 years and it'll be a puddle on the floor.

Got mine back running after having: Evo 9 Turbo, Mapped, AP Disks, and an MOT:
