Fairly easy tbh, a 2/3 year old car is around 10k for a 'decent' example if that even applys to this car, Halifax PCP on a 10k used car over 24 months is £139 a month with 1.7k deposit.

The car i've got though came out in 2019. Whats the monthly deal on £15k as thats the cheapest one I can find on autotrader. Plus its a used car. And has 14k miles on it.

Just found it on their website and put it below. So for a 19 plate used kadjar worth £15k and with 14k miles on it that would be a min of £246 a month with the same deposit I put down over the same term. Plus you would have to pay extra to do 12k miles a year. My brand new Kadjar is £185 a month.. I know what I would choose... I did all this research before buying the car believe me...

our last family mule was a 2003 E46 320d, bought with 135,000 miles on it in 2011.
We had it for 8 years (and 85,000) and when we sold it I worked out that it had cost £110 a month to run.
Would I have paid an extra £140 a month (taken your initial payment into account) to have a new Kadjar......probably, but the 3 series really was a use and abused (to an extent) kind of family car.
If I was using a lease car for the same purpose, being stung for little marks and scratches etc when handing back would always be in the back of my mind.

Then you can spend the money you save on tyres, servicing, tax, maintenance, repairs, the depreciation and finally the agony of selling it in 2 years time to every expert on the internet.
But at least the missus thinks we saved money even though it cost me hours in time going through all the above.
There's no comparison here.

There are cars available that are 2/3 years old though surely, maybe not a new Renault as well which would be a bonus.
Each to their own I guess, make sure the children treat it well and be sure to update us in 2 years time as to what you've replaced it with.
I wouldnt ever buy a new Renault either, but i can respect someones reasons for doing so.

Well I wouldn't have bothered buying it new unless it was on lease. Then someone else is losing the £10k in depreciation in year..

I’ve no issue with the lease. I’ve leased before and bought new. Why? Well it’s my money that’s why.
The car itself is meh for me though. But all SUV type things are meh to me. I just don’t see any advantages. I know many people that have SUV‘s from this segment (Kuga, Sportage, Tucson etc) and they all have smaller boots and less rear leg room and are less economic than my Octavia due to having all the aerodynamic properties of a breeze block. Being higher up is the only - subjective - advantage. The colour is nice though.

If it’s a lease (which I think it is) and not a PCP then its just about basically a long term hire of the car.
Amongst my many other cars I’ve had various Kia‘s for the last 4 yrs or so on a friends and family scheme through a mate of mine at a main dealership. I’ve paid about £160 a month ...40 quid a week for a new car, no worries about break downs, MOTs, replacing tyres, brakes, exhausts. Also the cars have latest safety features, crash protection and other creature comforts. I know it’s slightly different to the arrangement the OP has but in essence it’s all about what you want from a car and how you view that from a pricing perspective.
The car industry has latched onto the fact that most people want a new car for as little money as possible hence PCP, deposit contributions, scrappage etc.
In the context of the OP’s post he has gone into it with his eyes open, knows what he’s getting and knows exactly what his vehicle spend will be for the next 24 months. A lot of people like that security, also if his wife and kids are in it then the safety systems in a new car make even more sense.
I guess asking for opinions was always going to lead to the man who spent 500 quid 6 months ago on a Fiat Stilo claiming he had a better end of the deal

It's OK. We just all need to buy a Renault sport clio even if we have a large family. It's the clio sport forum logic. Either that or buy a used performance car that will cost you a fortune in maintenance. Like I said before this car is for the mrs and kids. It then lets me me get something more fun for myself that isn't a freezer lol
