Power Tool Perverts

What is impressive about the battery grinders is how quiet they are vs plug in ones, much nicer to use all day.

I do wish Milwaukee would get on board with the x lock system tho.
I never considered the volume of them. Nice one!

What is the x lock system?

Just seen that on YouTube. Looks good but are the discs more expensive in that guise?
I've got the slightly older brother of this, except wearing Makita trim - There are drawbacks to them but not many. Power Vs Versatility Vs Ability to last (Still talking battery grinders, honest).
Haha I did wonder..

I can see them not lasting very long at all doing lots of cuts, my intention is to do the odd one with them but keep my corded one for slitting/cuts

The size difference is mega compared to the standard fuel milwaukee which I am happy about. Im guessing that's where the power comes from as they're able to increase the motor size.

About the same, get a pack of 10 Bosch branded slitting discs for £7 or so.

Even if it’s not x-lock I’m sure they could invent something to make swapping discs easier.

That's surprisingly cheap. Love the idea of it. I always amaze people with my method of keeping the tool with the machine on corded ones and just tape the tool to the cord. So simple and so effective but is obviously not tool less like we're talking about.

In all fairness I usually just spin the disc on and off with my hand and lock it that way 80% of the time. The only time I use the tool is when I am using a slitting disc and I don't want to bend/snap it.

Yeah it’s not a massive issue, I just have multiple grinders with different tools attached so I don’t have to bother changing.

Trouble is it’s usually when your out of the garage and you just need to swap it over. The things usually stuck and your trying to hold the lock out button whilst undoing it without shredding your hand.

Well I'm just going to have to call you the grindr King now 😂

My Costco tyre inflator/jump starter finally packed in today after many years of use. Seemed a good excuse to order the M12 compact inflator I've had my eye on😂

I've looked at them but buggered if I'm paying £90 to inflate my tyres 😂

And they overheat after about 2 tyres 🙄

Not quite a power tool for this thread but I picked up a Stihl strimmer today off a lad I know that buys and refurbs them as a side hustle.

Nothing more masculine than pulling a pull cord on a petrol mower/strimmer or chainsaw 🤣

From around the Wolves area in one of the 'suburbs'
Not too far then, if I send you some details can you pass them on to the lad to see if he can give me a price?
Has it ever touched a a garage door before?

@Yorkshire Pudding
Probably 😂 was my grandads and when he moved he dropped them all at mine. He did own a farm though so it’s probably been through some doors!

Makita one is great. Did 4 tyres from 10psi to 30psi and didn’t bat an eyelid!

I've a Sun Joe tyre inflator and its fantastic! Cant count how many times it pumped up tyres before dying. I even used it to press out the pistons from my brembos 😂 Think I got it for christmas 2019 and its had 1 charge.

How many days did that take 😂

The Milwaukee is the quickest out of all the ones I've seen in a review.

I think they say after 10 minutes of continuous use to let it sit for 10 minutes before doing any more.

Didn’t time it tbf but so much easier than a compressor. Used it for racing yesterday as well just makes life easy nice and portable.

I couldn't take it any longer, I wanted the smaller one too. Impulse buy and I regret absolutely f**king nothing.

I literally have no justification for it other than it'll be nice to have a more compact one to get in tighter places.

Right angle die grinder with a cut off wheel is even better. ;)

I've seen loads of hit and miss videos about them so it's swaying me more towards not getting one although it was on the potential list.

Thing that's annoying is I'd need to get all the attachments for it. I've already got the rotary tool for super intricate work

For tidying up rust and car body type stuff they are ace, I’m debating buying a second one.
Not quite as good as air tools tho I must admit.

I think I'll use the small grinder for little jobs like that although you can't beat an m12 tool.

Have you seen the m18 compact impacts? I was looking last night and really surprised to see they are literally on par with thr 3/8 stubby in terms of power. Ideal for those on the m18 battery platform though.

Yeah good if you haven’t got the m12 batteries.

I’ve been looking at those impact ratchets they’ve come out with but I’m not sure how useful they are going to be.

We are starting kitchen extension soon and need to justify getting a new tool 🤣

I was also looking at those last night. What are your thoughts? I watched a pretty disappointing video of them last night

I’m struggling to see where they would be useful tbh.
They don’t look that much smaller than the stubby impact, if they found a way to add the impact to the standard long reach ratchet that would be amazing.
