Footage of Paul chasing the escaped horses

The yellow rocket 🚀 completed its first and likely to be its last track day at Bedford on Monday it performed exactly as expected the way this thing moves in a straight line is insane

however the pictures below have created a dilema for me I borrowed the track wheels from my cup racer now I think I prefer it with silver wheels

After the turbo came loose and destroyed that gasket I thought it would be a good idea to run without a gasket to i took it out and whilst refitting the turbo I snapped one of the studs so now the nightmare begins

Was the copper gasket properly annealed?

I would give it another go using better nuts, inconel studs and either tab washers or NordLock washers before going to the expense/hassle of getting the manifold and turbine housing ground perfectly flat to be able to run without a gasket. Looking at that manifold flange face it needs a lick over for anything to seal regardless

Get the mating faces checked and sorted if necessary, and run no gasket. R5gtt doesnt run one, ive only had issues with manifold to turbo blow when one of the faces is miles out.

What the hell is annealed?

Copper gaskets need to be annealed (heat treated) to soften them so they conform to the faces they're between, or they don't work, it involves heating them to a dull cherry red and quenching in water

But nothing is sealing on that manifold flange the way it is, get the studs out and clean it up before doing anything else 👍
