Pro alloy want £400

Seems a bit OTT, found a place in cardiff who can make me a custom job (out of brass and copper, but painted black/silver) for £200.

Or find a OEM rad that fits.

£200 sounds good to me dude, ask how much they want for 2!!

OEM rads that arent tall will be too small I think, unless its off a modern car but will be expensive then....

Get a borescope down it. You can show good compression with a compression tester and still have a fooked engine if the bores are scuffed to pieces. If the oil was that bad and smelt properly of fuel then its well worth checking!

Cheers

Cheers to Matt for the advice,

The car is booked in for tomorrow at Headshop uk for a full leaktown test, borescope check and compression test.

What should the compression be around 185? and all pretty much equal?

about a million.

When hot, a good one will do 190-200psi in 100% stock form.

However, gauge discrepency is a bigger issue.

Leakdown is more useful.

well I took it into Headshop UK today

Its having a full leakdown, compression check and bore inspection (scope)

Fingers crossed

Oh this just turned up!

Then it just turned up!

Fingers crossed it will be tomorrow pm! I'll either be crying or spending what I've saved on the engine!

YEY!

Compression
195 193 195 198

Leak down test was all less than 5%

Bores look good,

He said its over fueling big time, he said 10,000 more miles with that much fuel and it will be "bore washed to f**k"

So good news and ok news! £370 for a map, bum :(

Oh and he said I need a new filter as that one is fucked!, so I need to find the correct replacement!

Good news.

Like some others have said, get this running mint and cane it round a track for abit. No need to go over board with F1 technology this time!

The number one failure of projects is over complication and things going over budget. Set a budget and stick to it, as know you there is nothing worse than having a white elephant in your garage.

Its getting mapped by RST

Black one was sold to BenR (Im not spending 50k on this one to, its gona come in under 5k)

Cant wait to just drive it, the noise is sexy!

:boring:

The car ran on 2 cyclinders for about 200 miles which wont have helped the bores getting washed.

Im glad you have taken this car and are putting it right, I was sick of it by the time I sold it.
