FFS . . . I was shocked!

So today i visited reno to take my dad to pick up his car from its service. Got chattin to a mechanic about my car and i was telling him that my car had the exhaust highlighted by birchddown on an advisory note as ''tatty''. NOW , i know the stealerships dont get that name for nothing so i thought id pop the question . . . . ''Could you price me a full exhaust system please , parts only.''

So the guy at the parts desk disappears after taking my reg plate and re-appeared with a printed receipt. Heres how it read :

Its just The back box that is tatty? so you dont need a cat?.
I was quoted 500 ish for a new back box on my 182 as it was tatty, it was still "tatty" but not blowing 2yrs later when I sold it.
I would have replaced it with the Janspeed system for £350 if I needed to.

my old escorts after market brand new was 230 quid magnex cat back s/s and that is a bigger car so surely more effort / metal work went into it?

The K-Tec twin silenced UltraPerformance exhaust is the same, if not quieter than standard once moving. I've just taken one off and gone back to standard, and the car's louder when booting it lol

Just tried to charge me 73 quid for a fairly small and simple gasket between the cam cover and oil separator.

He then added that prices are going up on 1/4/09 so buy anything you need before then!
