should i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

That look's lovely that does but the milgae is a bit high tbh it does look like a clean example :)

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

The fact they state they only took it in p/x yesterday would suggest to me something might be wrong somewhere.

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

No.

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

car has a slight oil leak, noisy wheel bearing which will be sorted before it goes and the exhaust is bowing as the manifold gasket is perished i do have a new 1 which will be supplied with the car

open to sensible offers
Oh yeah? run a mile mate, high miler with possibly bad engine problems, looks a nice motor but I wouldn't take a chance on it.

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

Something tells me it's right up your street.

No- the only 6n2 shape Polo you want to be looking at it the few with the 1.8t vw/audi engine - this one could well be a bad egg!!!

That engine will not last running 15 psi through it, i'd know as I have 3 friends with G40 turbo engines in there mk2/3 polos. Looks a good car, nothing wrong with mileage as long as it been looked after. Wouldn't go for it though as it has an 'oil leak', will probably be a bottomless pit of money to fix it!

Re: shud i swap my clio for this polo with turbo conversion

That'll go pop!

No it won't. G40 is a solid motor. However. it'll need a new turbo to get past 200. That's the ONLY reason I wouldn't swap. Otherwise I'd swap. The 6N2 GTIs hold value very well.

Mate, it's a conversion...You'll have endless problems! It's part and partial of this type of motoring.

POP!

Conversions have their problems, but if that conversion was done simply, then it shouldn't have reliability issues. A good mate of mine runs a G40 turbo and doesent suffer from reliability issues. I'm not saying it's a daily mileage cruncher, but don't put it down on the basis that the supercharger is an expensive fix (this'n doesent have one!) etc

My mate originaly built this with a standerd g40 engine. was f**king s**t hot quick! it had no reliabilty issues, when he built it and was the first g40 conversion in a 6n2 i belive

Mine runs 23psi. With no problems.

Who are these 'mates' with turbo'd G40s??

The little G40 bottom ends are good for 300bhp if you know what you're doing.

As for fixing it, parts are about 50p, and always fitted with a 10, 13 or 17mm spanner :rasp:

If it's a silver 6n2 I'd steer clear, the initial conversion was a proper job, now it doesn't look that way.

Do you know James that works for WikidWheels? I've seen a couple of his builds :S. But then I guess if you throw half decent money at it I guess they'll be alright (decent rebuild with decent turbo+manifold etc etc, which is probably why most of the ones I know have gone pop!
