I wouldnt worry about cc to be honest, its all about fun at the end of the day. In all seriousness, you'll be able to thrash the absolute tits off your 1.2, non-stop, flat everywhere, whereas all the 2.0s will be backing off quite a bit in places.

Mines only a 1.6 anyway ;)

No got a couple of places left to fill.

Regarding Insurance, Insurance will only cover your own car if you take it out. If you hit someone, then you are not responsible for their car, but out of decency, it should try to be solved depending on the mature of the accident. If your car is worth stupid amount of money (Like the new RS we have coming) then please look into insurance. I know jamie (with the rs) pays for yearly track cover. Dont let this put you off as aslong everyone everyone is having fun and not trying to hard or showing off, we will have no problems. Also it will be fully marshalled and idiots will be shown the exit.

in addition to all that ^^^ its not a stupidly fast track ,there are
2 straights you can safely take over .
with maximum of 10 cars at a time , it usually goes nice and
smooth when everyone play it by the rules .

also got a car in million pieces at the moment , must get my
arse in gear and get it sorted asap .

any helmet should do. Though you can hire one there if they do get fussy about it.

Its not to any MSA regs though, so from Jan 1st 2010 you apparently cant use it at any MSV owned tracks, ie Brands, Oulton, Snetterton, Cadwell & Bedford ....

Then it'll be no good for me as i'd want to do Brands and Snetterton. Dave if you speak to the company that list the V2 helmet and maybe they'll give us a discount if we ordered a couple! Sure there would be a couple others that would want/need a new helmet.

Apparently so, but there is currently speculation that red label, ie fire retardant may be introduced soon. Essentially im going to work my head around it all, then phone MSV and see what they have to say about it .... dont want to spend out £150 on a helmet, then not be able to use it!

Although the V2 Racing one i have posted is fire proof, so ok in that respect ...

The labels:

Taken from the PH thread:

'Because we dont know whether venues and organisers will continue to follow the MSAs minimum requirement next year, its hard to say. If theyre sensible then the current BS6658 Type A (blue label) helmets should be more than adequate. If they foolishly follow the MSA (who are adopting the FIAs standard which requires a fire resistant lining, from next season) then youll need a BS6658 Type A/FR (red label); Snell 2005 or FIA 2004 approved helmet, whichll cost considerably more but give you no benefit at all.'

From current MSV trackday regs:

'All participants must wear crash helmets of a recognised manufacture and complying with the current Safety Requirements of the BSI 6658-85A (blue label) or BSI 6658 –85A/FR (red label), or MSA/ACU/FIM/FIA standards. All helmets must be correctly fitted.'

From RenaultSport track day info:
'All participants must wear crash helmets of a recognised manufacture and complying with the current Safety Requirements of the BSI 6658-85A (blue label) or BSI 6658–85A/FR (red label), or MSA/ACU/FIM/FIA standards. All helmets must be correctly fitted.'

blue sticker is whats needed is it?

I've got this helmet which is BS6658 Type A (blue sticker).

If they make the red label the minimum it'll be interesting to see if they insist on fire retardent overalls as well. Don't see the point in a fire proof helmet if you don't have clothes giving the same protection.

At the time my Dad and I were looking to race his Westfield so I bought a full face fire proof one as obviously you can't wear open face in an open topped car lol.

;)

Exactly!! I can see it now, 'my clio's caught fire, my body is burnt, but my face is still pretty' ...

Personally, im thinking that the blue label will suffice, unless they start expecting you to wear a full nomex body suit for trackdays :S
