Russ's new toy - Lotus content

Car  53 Clio's & counting
After the Clio, I wanted something that was more of a toy and I couldnt think of anything better than an Elise.

At this point I have to say a BIG thanks to Rob (Englebert) for the help and info and Justin for the info on his ownership experience!

So after some searching, I found this one.
Details:
99 T Lotus Elise
Metallic Silver
Red leather with matching red roof
Miles in the 80's
Full Lotus/dealer history right back to the original sales invoice
new MOT
S2 suspension
B & C stainless exhaust
Yellowstuff pads all round
Apart from the above, its standard - even has the standard airbox!

Some might not like the red/silver combo, but I really like it :D

I managed to get it for a fantastic price, and it drives on another level compared to the Clio! Performance wise, id say the Lotus is faster to about 70, then the Clio would own it badly, but it corners soooo much faster and you really feel one with the car.

No modifications planned as yet, just to tidy a few bits up, and lean how to drive it properly!

Bloody Lovely.....Should imagine the pending winter has brought the prices on cars like these down?

So this is the reason you let me down today!!!

All is forgiven, it looks awesome!

Believe it or not it doesnt tend to - only the dogs tend to get cheap - and there are a lot of dogs out there!

Love everything about it

Thanks mate :)

Yes fella REALLY sorry, I left late, then the bank we went to to pay it in only had a fecking machine to pay money in (The bank teller wouldnt!) then it wouldnt accept a load of £50's due to the corners being bent, then the teller wouldnt exchange them (A right f**k about) so once that was sorted and I got back it was super late!!

I need to come see you and you can have a drive :)

just looked up the prices of these FFFFFOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKK me lol thought they were like 5k ha

Fantastic aqusition mate. I'm a massive S2 fan but i'd have an S1 no problem.

I'm a big fan of cornering ability so I really need a go in a decent elise. :)

Excellent. Just need to slim down and ill be all go!

Out of interest, what were your reasons for getting the S1 over a VX220?

I bloody love it. Colour combo is awesome IMO. Great choice after the Clio :)

I'm going to have a look at the price of these in a minute and I guess I'll get a right shock, lol!

Iv always wanted an S1, and I think they look fantastic - I know the VX is basically the same car but newer, but my personal opinion I simply prefere the S1 :)

Done a bunch of track days in them and they are amazing. Just watch the back end though as short wheel base and no weight so they tend to swap end. In the wet you really have to think if you want to go out in it as it can be lethal and when it goes it really snaps. Some owners put a few bricks in the boot to add some weight in the winter so just be very careful in the winter months. If you want to know anything about them if new to Elises then give me a shout. Also get on over to SELOC. Lotus version of Clionet :)

Whats the plans for it Russell you bender?

Is it a track toy? Are you going to mod it? Has Cady sat in it yet? Have you let claire drive it?

Linus27 - Already on SELOC fella, thanks for the info, yours looks lovely! Whats the spec?

Dan - Not sure yet, its well specced enough for me for a while, just needs a few things tidying up really.

it will be a toy, so fast road/track use :)

Cady will be in it tomorrow - pic will come tomorrow lol, and we are popping to Next by Ikea, so Claire will drive back :)

What are these like to insure Russtopher? Lovely upgrade, can you buy exige parts for them?

Standard MPi 1.8? If so, interested in some cams for it? Got a pair that'll fit right in and give you a few extra ponies and a way nicer rev band... You'd also be the 3rd member of CS to have them in an engine as well!

All depends on where you live, if its kept outside matey etc, insurance isnt an issue for me as I have trade insurance, but I believe it can be fairly reasonable through specialists :)
