No compromise Supercharged ek9 progress thread

I keep telling him he needs some wider 16" ones in bronze. ;)

Cracking work as ever, I'm guessing Kieth wasn't late as a result of doing his hair lol

Will have to give me a heads up as to when you're down this way at Combe assuming you're still going there.

GAZ- Charger doesn't need rebuilt. Boosts fine but needs decent management and a map. Hopefully getting done by henry roy next month sometime when i find the time to take it down.

cheers chris. lol they do need a bit of spacing but will see what happens. would rather look for a set of reggas with a wider offset than start messing about with spacers tbh but still so any things that need to be done before then.

Good to see Messi is helping out!

Looks superb!

lol cheers mate.

lol si put it this way if a set were to come up at a reasonable price i would snap them up immediately. Its difficult to find a set in the uk with a low offset though. cheers si and lol he wasnt long up. Will definitely give you a shout si if we do head down. The ring trip is looking unlikely atm but i still dont know when my final exam is so its all depending on that right now.

I may have to buy a Honda...

cant go wrong with any jap car tbh chris ;)

I know what you mean, if you lived in Cali you might have a fighting chance of finding a second hand set in one colour or another, over here it's a different story and ordering new rims at around £400 a corner isn't something you enter into lightly!

No worries like I say if you end up at Combe at any point drop me a PM, with any luck I might have finally found myself a car by that point!

Still debating whether i should buy some typeR stickers for the rear quarters. I like the clean look without the stickers but not sure if it will look better with or without. sometimes i feel it looks a bit bare without the rear quarter decals especially when i see other ek9's with them on. Also they cost a fortune to buy (£70 iirc from honda for the 2 side decals) so thats not helping win me over either lol.

Firas

Car looks mint :approve:

if you are weighing up rear quarter decals try this fella out, i got a set for my FN2 and they have been spot on, exactly the same as the ones from honda.

Worth a punt for under a tenner, if your not keen you can take them off again and you havent lost much....

new style....

Simply fantastic. Once you get some decent wheels on it i'll make you an offer! ;)

Get the f*****s bought! If not, the ones tegiwa do look pretty much identical for the price.

it's an amazing car, with incredible attention to detail! Credit where credits due. But the wheels let it down!! Are they staying?

Exactly si. paying 2k for a set of rims is not really something i would even consider because of the depreciation on them as soon as you put them on. will lose £1k as soon as they are fitted pretty much. Keeping my eyes open on the honda forums in the hope that a set will come up in a lower offset. i personally love the reggas as they are silly light but they need to come out a a bit more.

will do buddy:) and fingers crossed you find something soon especially with the sumer nearly here.

great work chap, as said, keeping an eye on it,
looking forward to seeing the diffuser offered up

cheers Neil. Diffuser should hopefully be on sometime next week ;)

man what brilliant progress!
wish these went for a bit cheaper :( i'd snap one up in favour of the 182 tbh!

Cheers man, They have came down a bit over the last couple of years but decent ones still hold their value well so when you come to sell you dont usually loose any money on them.

thanks for the links mate. The last ones look very promising. I have looked into tegiwa ones and the quality is meant to be identical to oem honda ones. might be worth a punt just to see what they look like.

Simply fantastic. Once you get some decent wheels on it i'll make you an offer! ;)

lol gally mobile pics never do the wheels justice but i think spaced out and lowered more will change your opinion on them .

Get the f**kers bought! If not, the ones tegiwa do look pretty much identical for the price.

Yeh think im gonna go for the tegiwa ones henry. Half the price that honda want. Take it your getting some for yours as well once it comes back from the body shop?

cheers ali. wheels will be staying unless i find another set in a lower offset or another set of forged wheels that i like eg a set of either volk ce28n's, RE30's or CE27's

RE30's float my boat at the moment but they're all great wheels tbh and I wouldn't be disappointed with any of them. The only way to justify the cost of new set is if this car truly is going to be a toy you're likely to keep long term. If you can see yourself owning it 10 years from now then it I'd probably think f**k it I'll have them.

Great work as usual mate, looks stunning. Look forward to seeing the diffuser in place.

I paid 70 for a set of decals for my DC5, rip-off Honda. But ive seen some of the 'copies' and there's no way id have be putting them anywhere near my teg. If the Tegiwa copies are anything like their GM copy id be wary, quality is poor. give what youve lavished on the car so far, what 70 quid!

Good luck finding wheels, especially in the right offset. Took me 1.5 years to find a set of second hand CE28n's, i got them from Greece (of all places) and the offset was 50, so not ideal. Still looked pretty good though and at 800 quid they were a bargain.

Yeh same the RE30 are my favorite volks. No plans to sell up but would still have to be an impulse buy i think si.

cheers mate. From the pictures the stickers look identical to oem honda ones but still expensive at £35 for replica ones. Another £35 gets you 100% genuine so thinking of going for the honda ones. have a ate that works for honda so should sort e out with a nice discount on them as well. As for wheels not much point in going for 50 offset as they will look abit lost. ideally looking for 35 offset, which should clear the spoon calipers when they go on as well without spacers. As you say though its going to be a major task finding the right set of wheels. always keeping a look out on jap auctions and the honda forums but nothing has come up yet.

^Both of the above look vastly better! Burst the pocket money jar!

lol ali not much left in the pocket money jar now. Still got the EMS and map to pay for as well so should really save up the pennies i have for that.

Forgot to post up these pics. This was after i put everything on and dropped the car off the stands. Sits abit lower now. dampening on full hard is pretty crazy on them. half way seems reasonable but im yet to test them properly so will wait until the fronts are on to test them out.

Not a fan of p1's at all im afraid LIL B. Would love a set of CE's chris but sticking with the raggas for the now. Loving the look of them spaced out against the spoon calipers and now the car is sitting lower.

Started removing the old front coilovers

Started Raining and getting a bit dark so moved the car into the garage and started fitting the spoon brakes

The old brake lines wouldn't come off despite trying every tool i had so will have to get them taken off at a garage. In the meantime i decided to fit the new calipers anyway using the old brake lines for the now.

Photo3778.jpg

Started on the other side

Photo3747.jpg

Photo3748.jpg

Photo3750.jpg

Then connected the brake line up. Going to rebuild the rear calipers soon so will bleed the whole system when thats done and when the braided lines are on.

Gave the arches and wheels a wash. They were in pretty good nick as the car hasnt been driven in the the wet since it was undersealed in the summer so a quick wash was good enough.

Then put the wheels back on and dropped it off the jack. Think the car sits well and the spacers have brought the reggas out nicely. Love the look of the blue spoon calipers against the white reggas. The 6mm spacers are on as a temp measure. will be getting arp extended studs soon.

Love it. I love the attention you give this thing. This may seem a stupid question, but do you actually drive it, or do you just keep it tucked up?

lol will, shamefully its kept in the garage 95% of the time. In my defence though i haven't really had the chance to drive it properly since i bought it yet because there were so many things that needed sorted out when i bought it and then over winter i didnt want to use it so was declared sorn. Should have it taxed and insured within the next couple of weeks though so i can finally enjoy it over the summer months :)

Fair play for not driving over the winter. I would love to be able to drive that in the summer.

I only asked because you gave it a wash LOL.

Awesome work as usual!

Quick question, it's probably my eyes but are the wheels actually sitting on the hubs? Doesn't look like there is any left with the spacers fitted?

Missed out on some BC Coilovers recently myself :(

  Charged Superleggera
Cheers ben. The pic above shows 2x6mm spacers together but in the end i only used one 6mm for each side, which clears the calipers fine. In theory i should be ok with 6mm spacers but im still getting extended studs to be safe.

Only heard good things about the bc coilovers but havent really had a chance to try the bc's out myself since fitting them. However, i was in a an ek a few weeks ago with bc's fitted and it handled brilliantly. Dampening was set to 15 (half way) and the ride quality was still very good.

They do sit utterly perfect in the arch mate. Jealous.

Can we all chip together and buy him some decent wheels?

Those wheel are decent! Wash your mouth out!

We were only complaining about the offset. That's been sorted now! ;)

Although I'd get them refurbished in matte black and add a Spoon sticker. It's not faking it, they're the same wheel.

I'd echo comments about the spacers and checking them out as Ben says. If the wheel isn't resting on the hub I'd be pulling them off and fitting hubcebtric. It's definitely improved the stance of the car though, looks more purposeful now.

  CBR1K, F21 125D
I chopped them mono' in for some XYZ' 6pots, be interested to see your thoughts on the EK.

  Charged Superleggera
Thanks for the comments guys. The spacer situation is temporary as i needed the wheel to clear the calipers without scratching them. The wheel sits on the hub just but im not driving it like that. Longer ARP studs and hubcentric spacers are next on the list before it goes on the road, although i have my eyes on a set of reggas in 35 offset which wouldnt need spacers at all.

lol gally, I dont think the mobile phone pics do them justice tbh but they have grown on me alot since the spacers, calipers and coilovers went on so i think im going to hold on to them now .

Chris, matt black is a good shout and i have thought about it before but i think its a shame to change the factory paint especially since they are still in mint condition. Down the line if they need refurbed i will paint them black or bronze i think.

LIL B, the reason i went with the spoon calipers is that you have a choice of a wide range of brake pads and discs including oem ones and also they fit under 15 inch wheels. They are meant to be a good upgrade from the stock ek9 calipers aswell. I am looking forward to getting them bled and properly tested out soon :).

  Charged Superleggera
From what i have been told they are 6.5J and they are white si. exactly the same basically but with a wider offset.
