Ive decided to take the car off the road now, mainly because its getting horrible to drive and too cold now, and purchased myself a PH2 172 as a run about (will upload some pics this week). So over winter i can get on with a few jobs that ive been meaning to do. First up was to paint the headlights as i wont be needing those again..........

Cheers jay, i really like the look of it with the black lights.
Decided to sell the seats aswel as im not going to be needing those for a while and want something abit more supportive that the Sparco Reves that were in.
Loads to be getting on with now to get the car ready for next year.

Mondeo ftw , its much better driving a standard car lol.
Right ive put a list togeather of things that need to be done over the winter.......
1. Buy and fit a roll cage, thinking of getting the CL4 club cage from Custom Cages http://www.customcages.co.uk/roll-cages/clubman-rollcages then just adding my own bits into it..... Bulkhead bar, harness bars ect ect...
2. Get the inside of the car sprayed.
3. Fit the rest of the plastic windows that ive had lying around for the past few months.
4. Fit the Tilton Bias valve that have.
5. Purchase and fit a new seat... thinking a Cobra Evolution
6. Powdercoat subframe, wishbones, rear beam ect ect....
7. Cut the door skins and bonnet skin out.
There are loads of jobs to be getting on with over the winter...................

Surprised at how good that looks. is it a matte finish like the bumper (lol)

I weighed mine while I was there too, 1025, so thats quite a lot of weight saving you've done.
How much does the cage weigh that your looking at?

I was supprised myself at how light it was.
I think the standard CL4 cage weighs about 36-37kg but with all the bits that im adding in the overall weight will be closer to 50kg.

Well the clio has now been put away off the road. After spending near enough a whole day clearing out the garage, and 7 trips to the local tip, i managed to get the car in. Still loads of rubbish to clear out of the garage which i will sort out this week. At least it fits in now just waitin for a car cover to turn up so it doesnt get scratched too much....
Had some TRS Tow straps lying about for a couple of weeks aswel, will get these fitted at some point in the near future

And quicker when changing wheels over too.
Search for either of my project threads. Machine back face down a few MM so the heads don't catch anything, drill the threads out to 1/2" to accept the spines as a tight fit. Press in with a press. Plus bearing then press the stub back into the hub.
No stronger, just easier to swap wheels and less chance of a wheel falling off (on track especially) if the nuts come loose, unlike bolts where the wheel actually will fall off (been there, done that).
Which wind out when you want to swap wheels after half a day on track with the nut still attached.........yes. Threadlock or no threadlock they are unreliable IMO, they might be fine for a while, but at the end of the day a fixed pressed fitting will never compare to a wind in stud. On the road, perfectly acceptable.........the strain, heat and wear/tear on track is a different story.
Fair enough if someone spends £100s on decent studs that are properly made, they might stay in properly, but all the cheap eBay and budget kits (i.e under £100) for sale are not even worth entertaining. I've been there and done it, hence why I changed to a pressed version. Plus its doable for under £50 if you know what you're doing...

Few more bits turned up for the car y'day. Ive decided to convert the front hubs to studs for next year. Ordered the parts late last week and they turned up yday....
Just need to order two new bearings, get abit of machine work done and then i can get them in
