Look forward to the "started, got bored, here's some pictures" thread. Was supposed to FINALLY DA mine yesterday. Couldn't be arsed and just gave it a quick clean, spray of sealant, tyres and trim dressed and then left it lol.

Rust is pissing me off big time.

Hopefully it'll be the real deal this time. Need to get it done before FCS and this will be the best weekend for it, it seems.

Today's drive up to Buxton has inspired me to detail it and take it out for a drive this weekend. Epic weather, not that I'll be seeing any of it.

Nice. I'm going to get my hands on some hydrate 80, a moonrust silver touch up kit, and borrow a DA off someone but just buy myself some pads so I don't ruin theirs. Either that or go balls deep with my friends rotary, I can't see that ending well though.

When is FCS now?

Possibly. Jon and Ed are going and have a spare bed in the room they booked. Would cost me about £20 for the room if I was sharing with them :)

How much are the tickets?

Oh haiii

Just picked up some new goodies, courtesy of Marky_. Will be fitting them after my wheels have been sorted. :)

FCS prep starts tomorrow. Plans of a fun filled day of detailing.

Sunflower Detail

So today I detailed the Sunflower, to kick start my preparations ready for FCS (and more importantly, CSS).

I was focused mostly on the paintwork today, as the previous owner evidently used a yard brush to wash it. Swirl city.

Process was as follows:
- Remove bump strips and number plates
- Quickly clean wheels
- Snow foam
- Wash using 2x bucket method (AF Lather)
- Rinse
- De-tar using AF Oblitarate
- Have some fun with Iron-X, urgh
- Clay
- Wash again
- Dry off
- Take into the garage
- Tape off plastics
- Polish using 3M pads and Menzerna polishes
- Layer of AF Rejuvenate
- 2x layers of Dodo Juice Banana Armour
- Finished off by wiping glass down, dressing plastics, putting sealant on number plates and dressing tyres.

So, here's the pics from today...

Proper swirlbus. Only managed about 70-75% correction, as the swirls were ridiculously bad and there was plenty of RDS.

Overall, pretty pleased with the results, but still got a long way to go until i'm totally happy with the paintwork.

Left to do before FCS:
- Refurb wheels
- Fit TPI bolts
- Give the arches a proper going over
- Fit new steering wheel

Boom. :)

^ Need my Sunflower to be winning at something. ;) Everyone else's on here seems to be better than mine in certain areas. lol

The FCS prep took a step back this week. Been away with the missus and the dog. The clean up operation will begin ASAP!!

On the first night of being on the site, this happened. FUUUU

Cue driving around the Cotswolds trying to find a jet wash that I could use. Morrisons to the rescue. That wasn't normal bird s**t. More like Ostrich s**t.

Wheels won't be getting refurbed before FCS unfortunately, unless a miracle happens and I quickly get them booked in somewhere. :(

Will be getting a new steering wheel fitted this week too and probably doing a little more work on the paintwork.

Can't wait until CSS tbh. Will hopefully be totally mint by that point.

New Steering Wheel... Urgh

So, i've finally got round to fitting the new wheel, after having one sat in my room since November.

On the plus side, I now don't have a peely, melted, crap wheel and my hands won't get covered in black crap every time I drive.
On the down side, it's a non-sport wheel, so it looks cack/s**t/pikey in comparison.

It'll do for now though, until I can either source a mint Ph1 sport wheel or afford to have my old one retrimmed. Only CS bumders will notice anyway :rasp:.

After (urgh - looks so wrong):

Also tempted by a Renault Sabelt one, but then i'm put off by the fact that it isn't a standard wheel and I want to keep it OEM as possible.

Now to give the car a quick clean and do a few more bits ready for next Sunday.

Much better mate that old wheel was a state lol I would have duck taped it.

I keep thinking about getting a sabelt one too, the ph1 wheel feels huge.

Same mod i did when i had ph1 interior, i managed to find a blue wheel from a 1.4 so matched the sport airbag perfect.
Great cheap mod sir.
I may keep on the lookout for one of those then. This really sticks out like a sore thumb and id rather spend my money on better things. lol :p
Got a leather retrimmed one that I'm trying to decide whether to sell or not, you can try to persuade me ;)
TEN WHOLE ENGLISH POUNDS!!

Deal or No Deal?

Just finished washing the car. Quick iPhone Instagay photo:

How mint would this be with trendlines, a trophy spoiler, ph2 dash, sabelt wheel and kw coilovers. I'd love to see that. ;)

I really like the mats though, are they 200 mats? They fit alright?

I'm not gonna lie Mike. Treadlines may be on the cards in the future, once i've sorted the more important bits, i.e. wheel refurb, subtle lows and a couple other minor bits.
I can see myself owning this one for a long time, so it'd be worth the investment. ;)

Trophy spoiler, Ph2 dash and KW's are a No Deal though. I love my Cup Spoiler. I'm driving a Ph1, not a Ph2, so don't want a Ph2 dash. Lastly, coilovers are a bit wasted on me tbh (unless I can get a decent set mega mega cheap), ill stick to Sportlines when the time comes (hopefully next month).

Yeah, the mats were out my 200. They fit alright. The drivers one is a little tight, due to the footrest (literally just touches it), but they look great so it's all good.
The only reason they're in my car is because of the yellow trim ;).

Sabelt is tempting and may happen in the future, if I cannot source a mint sport wheel. Id prefer the OEM look though if i'm totally honest.

In otter news, i've just booked my wheels in for a cheeky powder coating, at City Powder Coaters in Birmingham. Shame it's on Monday (after FCS), but never mind. CSS is the main show that I wanted them done for.
LOL at my phonecall to them though. Could hardly understand the guy's strong Brummy accent ;).
All the places in Nottingham are all about double the price of these guys. Id rather travel to Birmingham and have a day out, than pay someone close to home double the cost.

Im Derby/Notts way and looking at getting my 182 wheels done up there if you want to split fuel etc?

And love the yellow beast btw!

How much are city charging for a drive in drive out service? Do they repair wheel damage too?
I'm leaving them with them for a couple days. Borrowing some wheels off Syn0b. £120 all in, for powder coating (website says it includes all prep, including repairing) and removal/refitting/balancing of tyres.
I'm dropping them off on Monday. Due to pick them back up on Thursday morning.
