£259 increase to add lowering springs!!

  2014 Clio 200t edc
But of a rant!!
Called Directline up today to enquiry how much it would cost to lower 30mm, and after asking how much they'd cost me and who'd fit them, came back with £259!!!
gutted!!!

It's usually worked out as a percentage increase against your annual premium, is your annual premium fairly high?

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
DL don't like mods. If it's a policy that's not on a modified scheme it always costs more to add mods later, as it'll be discounted in a different way for being standard.

Lol. I'm with brentacre with unlimited mods, well to a point. And they were the cheapest too

What kind of percentage out of interest? I've tried to get a quote online from you but didn't work.

i also tried to get a quote from yourselves (sky insurance) wanted 3.5k when i put in that i was offered ~£1870.00 from somewhere else (evidence provided) it asked me to provide a number and what time to make a call-back, did this, still no call back :(

I'm sure my insurer just re evaluated my quote and added suspension upgrade onto it, I was charged the difference the new quote added on top of my original quote which was only about 30-40 quid.

Even more annoyed after checking with Directline, I have 8 years no claims, 7 years with them!! But the plus side is I can cancel. Sky seemed good, gonna try brentacre next. Although I could as a mate said yesterday "grow up and act like a mature father" lol

We have an issue with your postcode for a very good reason, ie our underwriters paid out over £2 in claims for every £1 they took in premiums when we covered the area. I dont think many businesses would operate at that sort of loss. Thanks for your comment though.

That is entirely fair enough, you're providing a service and have every right to choose your customers! I don't get why people get so hung up about it, either they find a different company or move out of Afghanistan.

I went through Adrian Flux (36yo full NCB) for £380 FC and when i called up to add springs, turinis, top mounts, ARB and an RS192 they charged me nothing and added them on to my policy so that if the car gets nicked I will be paid out for all the mods aswell as the car. You need to change insurers asap!!

Afghanistan flol, really not. When i asked for a quote albeit a few years back there was no mention on what postcodes they insure, if they had stated them then i wouldnt of spent how ever long getting a quote. And the issue was not only with postcodes but with age aswel, think it was 30 at the time, i was 29.. But i appreciate insures should be picky to a certain degree, but let people know before they waste their time.

Likewise. I'm changing from the Vectra to the Clio. It's £90 cheaper for a start, at £250. Then, non-performance mods are free. A remap would cost me £60 more. Win!

I have a feeling you are mixing us up with a lesser known insurer who used to trade on here, whilst yes we do have restrictions, we have never had an over 30 criteria on any vehicle. If it was postcode specific, the maximum age limit would be 25 or if we did not insure the postcode it would be a no quote/expensive price.
I agree with what you say about letting people know about our criteria, the trouble with that being, the criteria is complex, it changes, it's confusing, hell it confuses me sometimes. Also, we do insure people in 'excluded' postcodes, just not via our car club scheme and usually on standard/non import cars.

We help as many as we can and are competitive for the majority but we simply cannot help everyone.

Sorry, one more thing, if anyone is concerned about wasting their time on the phone, a quick PM to me with limited details such as car, postcode, age, NCB level will enbable me to give a good indication whether we can help (but not give a price I'm afraid).

Sorry for the hi-jack
