Glad the sump / crank seal saga is finally sorted!

Yes me too. What I have learnt is not to doggedly stick to trying and just after the second time go and buy the new part. I really was shying away from new sump even though it was obvoius there must be something wrong with mine! I shall not be so stubborn next time :banghead:

If you search golf mk3 alloy radiator there is a few to choose from and they are even cheaper than what mark an I payed for them.

My heated windscreen has not turned up yet so bearing that in mind how can I keep my screen clear if needed these last two races? This weekend looks dry so far though albeit cold..

Fairy liquid smeared on the inside of the window, should be okay with your new air vents if they circulate air enough.

When did you order it Mark? I spoke to heatedwindreens.com (Ricky Evans motorsport) at the beginning of October and they said they wouldn't have any until the 6th January :(

Little blower heater could be used even though I know you won't like the aesthetics ;)

I used Rain-ex Anti mist and works to a point but is then useless!

The proper option is to fit a proper heater and then duct it up to the dash the problem is it needs tapping into the cooling system of the car and with the pipework and vents it tots upto nearly £250

I'd buy a couple mark. Friend had one for his vx220t as it fogged up easily in winter. Although the heater worked, it wasn't very fast which isn't much use to you

So it seems there are no less than 4 clio cup cars in my race tommorow!!! Rob gaffney is driving one of them!! What is the power to weight on one of them because today I left one down the straight? 45 cars on my grid, very nervous about the cup cars!

  Cup In bits
Just googled Gafney lol, so im guessing they are in mk3 clio's? Lesser powered cars will have the advantage, id say you will be about level pegging if you have a diff! If they are running full wets you'll have no chance mate if its coming down horizontal.

Why will they have more wet grip than me? I have full wets too?

When I mean full wets, are you running a cut slick suitable for road like 888's, direzza's or something like that or something like these, proper race wets

Ahh No we are only allowed to use tires from list 1B so for me i use Dirrezas for dry and Toyo R1R for wet. So no they/we are not allowed to use proper wets.

Mark, you should be fine. The main thing that make these cars quick (like the older ones) is the gearbox.

Good luck today mate.

You up early for a nervous poo ? ;)

So after a very wet, damp, wet, sleet, slippy, track oily, crashy, freezing weekend...

I WON B class again ;)

Report and video to follow :)

PS
and I beat all the Clio cup cars too!!!

Nice one Mark, so are sequential boxes allowed in your class? its purely power to weight for team trophy and 1b tyres.

seems so all of a sudden yes!

Car is weird under braking.

1. Seems to submarine
2. Then sometimes it jumps out of gear
3. Get a knock from the front

ideas? Dogbone knackered perhaps?

So race day,

Cold (very), wet (very) Miserable and damp about sums it up I guess. All of us were constantly checking the weather reports the whole day LOL, not sure why we bother as it will be and do what it want's no matter what the normally wrong weather forecast says.

Anyway we were out early for quali and we only have 30 mins so about 10 laps ish. Straightaway we were getting held up with yellows and then a car blew up and dumped oil all over 4 corners to make the track just that bit more challenging! We had a safety car for that and I still had not got a clean lap in and knew we were running out of time. I finally found some clean air and pushed as hard as I dared, crossed the line and my dash flashed at me fastest lap as the flag waved. I was happy with P3 but knew I had more pace in me as I was getting faster my last 3 laps of quali as my tyres warmed (do they even do that in those conditions LOL)

So now we had 6 hours to wait DOHHHHHHHHHH. Race at 4.25. It rained and sleeted on and off and cars crashed in each race of the day, which when you're waiting does not do your nerves any favours I can tell you. So then we get pushed back to 4.45 and I am thinking we will end this in the dark!

Finally the grid. I just thought get away clean, don't tussle and pick them off when you're tyres are warm. That's pretty much what I did and lost a few places at the start that I gradually picked back up. I try to drive like Button, im not a Lewis and not overly aggressive to be honest but this lost me a place to Ashs Clio cup (the yellow one) although eh then spun out later so perhaps my style is better suited to those conditions. Darren and I then had a coming together at Richies (A corner I just could not get right and was taking too slow I felt) I felt I had the corner but Darren being in a LHD did not see me and closed the door, my front wheel just clipped him and I spun. Luckily for me I ended up facing the right way and so did not lose much time.

About this time a car decided to dump oil at Richies, Montreal, Palmer, Agostini, Hamilton, Oggies and Williams. As if it's not bad enough! I have cars spin out right in front of me and you just think im going through that now at the same speed on the same line Ooerrrr!!! All very seat fo the pants stuff I can tell you. My GRIPPER saved me constantly and if you don't have one GET one. My mechanical front end grip is the bollox once you get used to it. I could probably go a bit shorter on my final drive but hey ho.

So Now I have my work cut out as I have even more places to make up and I set about this. All the cars pitted early att he same time and I stayed out. There was carnage in the pits with cars blocked etc and they all ran over time which played into my hands and I pushed on and pitted last (ish)

Now I pushed and pushed and slid and I slided ha ha and then it went dark and I just thought is this ever gonna end and then I just about saw the flag. At that point I thought I was in 5th for some odd reason so when I pulled into the pits and they directed my car I sort of sit there wondering why I am there ROFL

I won and it was emotional :) I conquered my wet driving fear and won't feel so nervous next time. My R1Rs were ok although the back was loose even though the suspension was its softest, not sure what eles you could do there? Suspension being such a dark art I have not mastered.

Enjoy the video and Brands in two weeks on the 10th, no doubt wet again!!!!

Mark..

Quali time = 2.41.238
Best race time = 2.38.867

Well done Mark, sounds like horrible conditions to be racing in. Bet you were glad to get it finished with, diminishing light etc!

Top result Mark, slide well caught at 35:00. Was that an outright win you had? Car goes EXTREMELY well if that was a full euro spec supercopa leon ahead of you at the start.

Yes I am proud of the slide myself although I would rather learn how to set the car up so the backend does not do that too often ha ha.. To be fair it does not do that in the dry :)

No third overall B class win.

Darrens car is a full works LHD Supercopa and he was being run by the guy that builds them and used to work for the works team :) It is a work of art inside with carbon etc, paddle flat shift, air jacks the lot.

I think my little garage built Clio does really rather well ehhh!!!! I am SO chuffed it's better than a cup car too ;)

Well done Mark, Great result.

Car looked like it handled very well in the wet, nice drift half way through the video!

Is you windscreen wiper motor on the way out? kept stopping and starting randomly!

Oh and you love hitting that limiter don't ya ;)

Cant wait to get back and finish my car so i can get it on track!!

Yes I thought that about the wiper motor and will order a new one today. I'm working on a faster gear change ;) but sometimes I forget and just want to rev it to ten k...

When are you back?? Be good to see you and do the chinky thing, ahh old times...
