New country! New whip! (Jap content)

If you set the turbo timer for like 10 seconds, the turbo will still spool for 10 seconds after the engine is off iirc...

A turbo timer leaves the engine running for X amount of time after turning the ignition off. Supposedly to cool it all down. They're a gimmick, just drive slowly 5/10 minutes before turning your car off, who ever heard of sitting still with an engine running cooling it down?

You're a brave man buying a car you have little knowledge of, with no local community to help you out (yet).

Go find yourself some car friends, sharpish.

This.

Hope you find a job quick, deep pockets for one of these.

Good luck.

ah right, When I went to view an S14a it just left the turbo spooling. The engine wasn't running at all. But yeh they're just a gimmick lol

Trust me, it didn't just leave the turbo spooling. Turbos spin at such high rpms that they will still spin after an engine stops. Especially roller bearing turbos, they can spin for minutes!

That has nothing to do with a turbo timer ;)

nice buy, what kind of price does it work out at in GBP? don't say if you don't want 2 i'm just curious

It was listed for $9990 but I got it for $8990 which works out about £4.5k.

Sounds expensive but cars are so expensive over here!

A nice 182 would fetch £8k over here! $16000 I've seen one for sale!

Ok so I wire brushed, sanded, cleaned, killrust primer'd, and killrust black gloss top coated all previous rust patches and bare metal that could rust on the boot floor... It's not the prettiest of jobs, but I haven't done it to look good, just to prevent it from rusting even more!

There's also a fuelling issue (I think) smells like its running rich, and seems to misfire/jerk under heavy load. Going into the garage Tuesday courtesy of the dealership I bought it from.

Yep, sold my '01 Ph2. 172 for $7500 AUD. = £5000 at the time. Mental.

Another small update - binned the falling apart leather gear knob and got a nice new neo-chrome one :D

Also taken the battery out to treat the rusted battery tray you can see in the pictures in the last update

Think I've found out what the switch is for!

It's got a boost controller on it so I'm guessing its for when you want to switch to high boost.

Although I've heard these engines aren't great when you up the boost and can easily go bang :/

Haha yeah you were pretty close!

Also been looking at getting a set of blue recaro's from a Honda

What do you think?

I'm guessing I would need custom subframe/rails made up though!

It's not going to go bang... Providing you have the correct supporting mods for the boost level.

I was just about to edit my post and suggest them! I just don't like blue upholstery, just don't appeal to me.

Although, In all fairness i'd have plain black or grey

Hmm yeah I could go either way I just think blue would be more unique. I'll have to see what's available when I can actually afford them haha

Yeah it's not great, there's 1 set of blue recaro's going at the moment, and loads of red ones.

The Honda scene is massive out here so there's quite a few going off there. Can get then reasonably cheap considering they are actually recaro's lol

So I ordered some white LED's for the map light!
