thought and wash my dads car this morning , it's been a while. It also sits underneath a tree and the near side and the roof is covered in tree sap. I washed and used the tar remover and scrubbed as best as i could but there's still a lot sap on the car. Is there anything i can do other than go at it again and again?
I’ve used this on a car once, worked really really well. Also, if you can, hot water.

what tar remover are you using?, clay bar/mitt can remove it
I’m using Gyoen Tar, it’s not just spots here and there it’s like a thick layer of it. I’ve gotten most of it off it’s just the stubern left overs. It’s mainly the roof and spoiler that’s left

Thanks I will take a look at that. Been a very long time since I’ve been on eBay lol. Did you just leave it to dwel for a few mins and wipe off or did it just need a pressure washer to get rid of it
Car was dry and cold, out of direct sunlight, sprayed it on, left to sit for 2/3 mins, then washed the panels with a bucket of hot water and a microfibre cloth. (They’re more grabby than wash mitts - that was my justification)

I need something ultra hydrophobic that’s plastic clear friendly. My rear screen isn’t heated and coming into the cooler months it makes it impossible to see out of until well into my journey. Any suggestions?

Gtechniq G5 can be used on plastics.

Not sure about any of the ceramic offerings with them being solvent based.

Good lads.......

We had a couple of young lads from our estate offer to wash our cars this summer . Had to politely refuse due to them rocking up with washing up liquid like the above. Still gave them a few quid for offering though.

same here. Couple of lads knocking on doors asking if they can wash your car.

Someone posted a photo of them doing their car on the local FB group praising them for their initiative. The photo showed them mid wash with their drying towels and sponges on the floor next to the car

Got to start somewhere I suppose.

We had that this summer on our estate, one of the local valeters caught wind of it and reached out to them giving them some supplies (two buckets with grit guards, shampoo, wheel cleaner, glass cleaner cloths etc) and gave them a lesson on how to clean the cars safely and set them on their way.

Was better than them turning up with a washing up bowl full of pond water and green scouring sponges from their mum's kitchen asking if they can clean my car 😂

Same round ours. This lad and his mate have been washing them most weekends. There are a couple of detailers on the estate who have gone round and helped them out a few times and recommended them some products to use.

I wouldn’t let them anywhere near mine but it can’t be any worse than the s**t the local hand car washes do

I used to wash a neighbours black ford probe back in the day. Think I did it twice before she kindly said not again lol
I cleaned the engine bay on my mums car with a bottle of gunk and a hosepipe. Got rid of soooo much grime. This was when chemicals were proper chemicals!!
My mum then convinced two of her friends to have their engines done and being 12/13 years old I had no idea what I was doing. Both cars were never seen again though. Well, once they’d kangaroo’d off down the lane on 3 cylinders. 😳😂😂😂

Surely you just wipe it before you set off?

I love glaco by Soft99 personally but I am hobby car cleaner
How easy is it to apply and buff off?

I recently went back to G technic windscreen treatment, hadnt used it in years. what a pain in the ass to buff off. Wont be using that again. Rain-x on the other car was nice and easy in comparison.

I just want a nice and easy product.

I use Angelwax Glass sealant type stuff. H2Go or something?

Lather it all over, leave it 20 mins, spray a tiny bit of water on the screen and wipe off. Piece of piss. Lasts ages.

Easy.

I used their decon stuff too to remove all previous coatings from the screen. It’s like witchcraft.

I also use the Glaco stuff. It's in a really easy to use applicator - undo the cover, spread across the screen in circular motion, jet wash off. Dry, apply the sealant, buff. It's lasted a good year on a daily VW, I've just reapplied before Winter.

Worth noting there's two types of Glaco.

Glaco DX which is comparable to RainX and Gyeon Quickview, maybe up to 6 months durability.

Ultra Glaco is a bit more fussy as you're meant to keep the car dry overnight, around a year durability.
