There is not a lot in it between any 172/182 variant in straight line speed to be fair. But personally I do agree with your sentiment that it does defy the object of the Cup somewhat.
Dunno how much lighter it will be with air con - not as much obviously.
Weight was saved with thinner glass, no spare wheel, and no rear head rests! (dammit, knew I'd miss something...)
I'd agree with that.
The last of the line 172 Cups did have air con as an option. But ABS never was.
First off what colour is it? 172 Cup only came in Mondial Blue (metalic blue) and silver. Most were blue.
What alloys does it have? 5 spokes points to it being a non Cup 172 that will...
How to overcome it? - Firm grip on the steering wheel perhaps ;) I quite enjoy it personally.
One thing I noticed was that new front tyres reduced torque steer significantly on my Cup. I think this is because worn tyres actually have more contact with the road and therefore more grip (in dry...
Do a search. There was a thread about this a few months ago (started by FredYozzasport IRRC). Fred and a few other forum members were offering washers for a small fee.
Bought a couple for my Cup. Did'nt solve the problem* totally, maybe improved things a little. I just ignore it now...
Bloody hell! I don't believe it. Gutted for you Mark.
Theres a "Stolen Cars" Wiki/sticky on the Pistonheads forum at the moment. Its at the top of the "General Gassing" sub-forum. Gets quite a few views I expect, might be worth a go.
Interesting thread this; I'm toying with the idea of getting an Evo/Scoob in a few years. Pretty much backs up what I thought though: bang for buck they are'nt going to be better than a Clio. Can see ownership only being for a year or so because of that perhaps (much shorter than I intend to...
My Prospeed stank after a good run for the first couple of weeks. Quite liked it :approve:
As said its just something they use when making it burning off a little.
I'm with Elephant (have been for past 20 months or so since I bought the car). 24, 1yr NC, minor mods (cat back exhaust, sports cat). Its not exactly cheap! But about as good as it gets unfortunately
RE Cups being cheaper to buy due to higher insurance costs. I think thats more due...
Hey man I'm just following Dan's guide off here! I'm a complete amature when it comes to mechanics. If he says take it off, I take it off lol. Don't want to get caught out
I'll have another look tomorrow ;)
Cheers for the help everyone
Reading the post you have quoted you seem to be saying the same thing. Whats the beef? :S
RS Clios' are rapid up to 90-100mph then start to tail off compared to bigger more powerfull cars. But down a challenging A or B road there is going to be feck all in it.
LOL This socket set cost me good money! Its not the socket that has failed its another part. Did'nt have this problem last time. Think the garage that did the last service may have over tightened it a little.
Trying to change the oil this morning but have stumbled at the first hurdle! The nut seems to be on too tight. Just broken my socket set trying to undo it
Any idea how I can loosen it?
