Return of the Storm Grey 172 track car

Ah Ah right sorry. Yeah the filter sits right behind the headlight so its just a straight route. However it was a lot easier for me with the headlight blanks. Might be more tricky with proper headlights.

Return of the Storm Grey 172 track car

Yeah it seems to work well. I think it will be most beneficial on hot trackdays when the under bonnet temps get right up

Return of the Storm Grey 172 track car

Been very busy on the SG 172! The car has been screaming out for coilovers for ages now, as the previous cup shocks + cooksport spring setup was far too soft for track. I also noticed that fitting sticky track tyres seemed to really highlight the suspension as a weak point, as I was getting...

Is Silverstone any fun in a Clio?

Hi all For those that have done/do Silverstone in a Clio, what are your thoughts? Basically I'm in two minds of whether to book on at some point this year. Is it more of a power circuit really? Seems like a lot of long straights, and not really suited to these type of cars, more the big power...

    Forge Hoses

Bit of a cop out that! Basically saying they've made it longer than needed so that you have to customise it yourself, because they haven't designed it properly! Will feed back how I get on with the MTS kit Ive ordered, hopefully no trimming required!

    Forge Hoses

I was about to order these last night, as I was thinking 'buy cheap, buy twice', so best off paying the extra for the forge ones. Turns out that isn't always correct!

New radiator and coolant pipes required - recommendations and advice needed

Hi all, After issues with my car overheating I found that I have a coolant leak which seems to be coming from the radiator, so I will be fitting a new one, and while I am doing it I want to fit a full kit of silicone coolant pipes. First thing - rad. A lot of people talk about the nissens...

    Black 182 Track Toy...

I was cringing watching that guy in the Ibiza, giving the middle finger to people as he forces his way past. And almost goes into the side of that Porsche mid-corner 🙈 Where are the lightweight bootlid and bonnet from by the way?

    John’s Titanium 182 Track Project

What is involved when fitting polycarb windows? Its something id like to do to mine in the future but not sure if its something to attempt myself..

HELP, water temp right up and 2 dash lights

Yeah I agree. Id imagine the engine was designed to run a certain temp as well so making it run cooler doesnt seem like the best idea. Ive ordered an OE thermostat, coolant temp sensor and some type D coolant.

HELP, water temp right up and 2 dash lights

As in the level? Yeah looks ok I need to start the car up again and see if its actually overheating, or if it just THINKS it is :smirk: Which would you advise changing first? Or is it worth doing both? Also, if Im changing the thermostat, are these worth buying? Seems a similar price to OEM...

    Best track brake fluid?

Probably been covered a lot but can find much of a consensus. Is RBF600 still the 'go to' these days?

Issue removing BC top mounts from coilovers

Ill be getting the geo done once its all fitted, but out of interest, if that disc just spins, how do you adjust the camber and castor independently?

Issue removing BC top mounts from coilovers

Ahhhh! Makes life easier then. That video was a red herring 🙈

Issue removing BC top mounts from coilovers

I did the same when removing the old suspension. I read that doing that can damage the shocks though? So reluctant to do it to the new stuff

Issue removing BC top mounts from coilovers

Ive got an impact gun. However that wont help as all it would do is spin the shaft really fast. You need the allen key to hold it. No, but I need to split the top mounts and coilover to fit them

Issue removing BC top mounts from coilovers

I am in the process of fitting BC coilovers, and am struggling to remove the top mounts from the new coilovers. According to this video at 1.15, with a ring spanner and an allen key, you should be able to remove the nut to separate the coilovers and the top mounts... However, mine seem...

Fitting coilovers - what bolts to replace with new?

I will be fitting coilovers soon, and Im thinking it would be worthwhile replacing some of the old bolts/nuts while Im doing it. For example, the bolts and nuts which attach the shocks to the hubs. What else it worth changing? And more importantly, where can I get them from? Does anyone have...

    Demon Tweeks Failed Customer Service

Ive spent thousands with Tweeks over the years, whether it be in the tyres, motorsport, motorbike or cycles department and have always found the staff helpful, in my personal experience. However as with most things in life, how you treat people affects how they treat you in return. For example...

Anyone ran staggered tyre types on track (slicks front/R compound rear)

Yeah Id very interested to hear how youve got on with the slicks. Especially how they compared to other track tyres. What width of wheel would be best suited to these ones on ebay?

Anyone ran staggered tyre types on track (slicks front/R compound rear)

Messaged the seller and he says theyre a soft to medium compound. Would these not be more suited to sprints/hillclimbs? Just wondering if theyd overheat on trackdays?

Anyone ran staggered tyre types on track (slicks front/R compound rear)

Where you buying the slicks from out of interest? I saw these RS1s in demon tweeks a while back and was thinking about giving them a try in the future. From memory they were cheaper than A048s! Couldn't find much info on the net about them though.

Track car rear pads: standard or DS2500?

As Ive heard the rear brakes dont do much, am I best off going with standard pads to keep the heat in them, or is it with paying the extra for the DS2500s. Not too bothered about cost, just want the best performance. Track only car, sticky tyres. Running DS1.11 fronts

    Gaz or BC coilovers

BCs are top of my shopping list currently. Read a lot of good things about them, and as other have said, big plus points are the dampening adjust, spring rate options and very well priced! I had planned to go for 9kg springs on the front, but wondering if its worth going 10kg with it being...

Return of the Storm Grey 172 track car

Mine doesn't make any noise. Not as much airflow as I had hoped, but definitely good enough. Especially with an open faced helmet and one of the vents shut. Will see how I get on in summer. Normally have the windows down a few inches but the wind noise is ridiculous - hence the wind deflectors.
