Completely forgot I even took these, had intended on taking loads but got into the whole driving thing too much! Not many but here goes...
Insanely big (downloadable) original files available on request as always...
What did you do to stop it hitting the aerial etc? The Trophy boot only opens about 2/3rds of the way up compared to a normal Clio so it doesn't make contact with anything.
The only mention of increased MPG I've noticed in this thread has been regarding the ITG Panel Filter, which isn't an induction kit anyway. Saves you money because you don't need to have it changed every service, and the car does run ever so slightly better with it in.
I did 12.5mpg whilst there according to the computer. I then reset it when I left and had a horrible journey home behind slow traffic moving constantly at about 35mph, I managed 46.6mpg!
When you say genuine Renault parts does it have to be Elf oil? Or any as long as its the correct stuff i.e. 5w40 for 172s. I realise even Renault dealers don't always use the proper stuff so this should be irrelevant, but its never that simple!
Sweet, I thought I had improved throughout the day but that confirms it, a whole 10 seconds off between my first run and my 5th (I'm ignoring the last run because I locked up and slid through the box!), can't argue with that.
If I had another 12 hours I may have been up with the other...
Wish I'd read this before earlier this evening! Got everything (and I mean everything) out apart from the rear back (the metal rail that came out must account for half the weight of the car!), then got to that bloody black star screw thing and no method of actually removing it!
Need to get...
Jan 04 (21 months old)
14k
I bought it on 8k a few months back so it was very low mileage, its so much bloody fun that the counter is shooting up daily now though!
If you don't mind posting some or all of the numberplate we could probably tell you pretty quickly between us, although I think most of the press cars were HS53 ___ as I imagine they were all registered in the same area.
Easy job and I'm crap at anything remotely practical, just a bit fiddly if you have big hands. Suprisingly the instructions in the manual are actually fairly clear and easy to follow, I changed all my bulbs front and rear in about 20 minutes.
Good tasteful mods you've chosen, I made a few...
Front strut mount or something, mine (172 Cup) makes the noise on full lock at low speeds and many many other people here have had it/got it. Apparently its dealer fixable (although it has been known to come back) but not a major concern.
How did you get them out of the Cup? I haven't had any joy yet (although only had the chance to try in the dark the last few nights!), seats are out but the back isn't budging and I can't find any bolts that are actually holding the damn thing in.
BP Ultimate is 97 RON and I think Tesco Super is as well, so if I was to stick strictly to 98 RON I would need Optimax, nearest service station: 20 miles in both directions!
I've always used Ultimate so can't say if there is a noticeable difference between that and 95 stuff.
As a few people have mentioned its certainly worth making sure you lock it at least a few seconds after shutting the door and vise versa. I was setting my alarm off frequently until I realised I was being too quick, after talking to a few guys from here at RWS it seemed pretty common.
I know...
The answer seems obvious to this one, is it better (in performance terms) to have a full load of fuel, half, or virtually empty?
I ask because I've had mine down to a minimum a few times lately and especially at high speeds the car (172 Cup) feels less assured than it does with a load of fuel...
I was fortunate enough to get my test drive alone, dealer gave me the keys and said off you go, try not to be more than 45 minutes! Only ever driven a 1.2 before it so it blew me away, I bought it and the rest is history!
OK I'm guessing this is 'once you know what you are doing its easy' thing as I'll be damned if I can get the thing out! Can't find a bolt anywhere (apart from a large gold odd shaped one on the luggage rail as somebody described it), any kind souls have any further clues?!
Watched it all the telly yesterday, cheering for Matt Neal (gotta love those Integras) who didn't dissapoint, the in-laws who are ardent F1 fans watched it (because I was) and they are converted now, and it wasn't even as exciting as some of the races this season!
Even the other half was...
Is removing the whole back seat set up an easy thing to do on a fairly regular basis (172 Cup here)? Obviously the seats come out easy but I was wondering more about the whole back section that folds down, just a few screws or something?
I had a similar experience, owned a 1.2 Dynamique (most powerful car I ever owned at that point!) and decided to hell with it I want a 172. Test drove a 172 Cup and it blew my mind, add to that the fact it was 18 months old, £8395 and had just 8k on it I just bought it there and then, craziest...
And as an aside, where do the washer jets go? I assume as its an offence not to have your washer fluid filled up (or frozen whilst on the road) that not having the means to spray the screen would also be frowned upon.
