Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
I don't understand why use bigger disk brakes if you want better handling (less unsprung weight) and a simplier setup use the 259mm disk the 172 calipers are heavier etc if you wanted to uprate them get some 4 pots etc
As for the plastic plug for the gearbox it is a...
you find loads of second hand beams are bent
best do find a car which has had a fornt end as the rear beams do get bent often in crashes a fair bit,
Check your cars front end though as well also might be worth rottating the tyres.
Your better of spending a lot on a decinet setup but stock shock will survive although with not as great a ride as might be hoped for as long as they would with standard springs
1) Reliable as much as how good a car you get and the care you take of it
2) About the same there not bad on fuel depends how you drive
3) later 172 on 53ish plate onwards have cruise all 182 have it
4) Common Clio problems

I've got it at work drop me an email eddeuk at yahoo.co.uk and when i get a moment I'll send it to you just remember to write in the email what you want got a laod of them to sort tomorrow.
See your other thread but you need to find the air leak. check vcume pipes I'd just leave the engine ideling remove all the tools etc and put your hand round feeling for the leak
get the car plugged into a computer check what the pedal is giving out as an output.
also worth cleaning the throttle body.
but if your throttle body is cled and the cars reving that high you have an air leak check all the vacume pipes etc you'll have a leak from them etc.
check the driveshafts and the abs sensor and teeth rings are ok plus check the wheel bolts are tight
new shafts are about £115 I think maybe a bit more.
IMO I'd keep the abs you have and the pas you have which is electric and use that IMO its easier.
Aircon is simple enough just use the right looms from the doner car etc
Stereo is dead easy
As for the looms pull the looms and dash from your car and put the whole engine and interier...
Find someone good and helpful and ask nice and you'll find a lot of helpful people working at Renault.
as for spec hum depends on what your power band etc is 1.2 is a small engine so you'd ber looking at a small turbo.
IMO though I'd be looking at a new engine for more power.
might as well go for a bigger drop.
DOn't forget what is claimed and what you get and what they sink to are all different.
IMO get some eiback springs if your not willing to spend any money on a good decinet kit,
It is in the service book the original phase 1's weren't to be chnaged till 72k with the belts but there were so many claims that it got changed but often the delaers don't know as they remember the old rules.
