    Painting inlet manifold

Yes but the point is its for ease of recognition. If i said i had a problem with my manifold would you know which part i was meaning? No, of course not where by if i said plenum or inlet you would ;) Search AWT, AP Developments and Jam Sport. They all list the lower part as being the inlet

    Who's Waxoyl'd their Clio?

In the process of getting my Escort restored due to rust suprise suprise and when hunting for parts got talking to a guy who has a mint XR3i. He said the last owner had waxoyl'd it till it was dripping out the chassis legs! Certainly worked for him as the car was totally minted even tho it...

    195 vs 205 tyre width on a 182?

IMO wouldnt downgrade tyres on a 182 rim. Change the wheels with different offsets then it'll be fine

    Turbocharger or Supercharger??

Search his thread mate in projects. Theres tonnes of detailed info on it. Also mag feature in PGTI. Forget headline bhp figures too. I was taken a spin in it running 270 brake on stock internals iirc and words can not express just how quick the thing was :cool:

    £160 for pads?

You go in for brake pads and they start sniffing about the throttle cable. How does this work?? :S - Sound dodgy as to me Rear pads are 12 quid from Halfords for branded pads. Not sure what price stock front ones are.

    why do people do it!!!

Was thinking the same. Dont they have to be slided along ? :S Badge taking was huuuuuge in the late 80's early 90's - VW badges were massive and slightly later mk6 Escorts were always having the chrome look ''RS'' letters swiped out of Escort

    inlets and a remap

Thats incorrect. The porting process takes the port sizes behond factory tolerances, ie, to that of the gasket. The difference someone will feel depends how good they are prior to porting. Mapping will see the best results. Its not just about peak power gains, its about ironing out flat...

    Bonnet Spacers?

All they are is blocks roughly a inch thick iirc which go between the hinge and the bonnet to give the raised look. Popular with RS Turbo's to ease under bonnet temps

    Gearbox failure (Big Disaster)

I wouldnt split the car. Plenty of boxes and engines flying about cheap at breakers yards. Its the fitting that would be the expensive part if your not handy with a spanner. If your thinking of breaking it, why not turn it into a long term project car instead?

    Rounded nut...

Easy, buy a socket set nut removal kit. (not sure of the technical name) Their exactly the same as a normal socket piece but have blades inside. You place the socket on and as you turn the blades grip. The more force the more the blades dig into the nut. You can use a normal spanner or a...

2 types of inlets!!!? ...not happy!

No im not wrong. Top part is known as the plenum chamber, the bottom part is known as the inlet manifold. Yes they both make up the intake system as a whole but their both known as seperate items. Inlets = bottom part: http://www.angel-works.co.uk/product_2ltrinlet.php...

    How far would you travel?

Its not so much the fact of a dodgy garage where the cam belts concerned, its having all the correct specialist tools and familiarity with the engine thats key. One tooth out and thats you lost X amount of BHP etc
