This morning I drove my 93 Clio 16v to work as normal, 40 minute journey, fairly heavy traffic. On a few occasions the car felt as if was going to cut out, like the car was running out of petrol, it was a bit hesitant.:( The engine speed was around 4.5-5k.
What could this be?
Is it...
Thanks for the replies.
It seems to be doing this even more often now, so I am wondering if it could be the ball joints. As far as I know they have never been replaced & as the car is coming up to 90k, they are probably a bit knackered.
Rajk, Thanks for the suggestion on the exhaust, I will...
Chris,
Its not a loose spare of brace and I cannot see any bolts that may be loose.
I did have the rear brakes replaced not too long ago ( new disks & pads) and the near side caliper was sticking abit, but this has now stopped happening, does it sound like it could be a problem with the...
There is a knocking noise coming from the rear passenger side of my valver.:(
The car is lowered 35mm with Koni adjustables.
The exhaust isnt knocking and I have checked the tightness of all the damper bolts and also the hub nuts and they are fine.
The noise does not occur all of the time...
How do you adjust the rear konis, as the instructions that I received with mine state that you have to depress a button under the black plastic sleeve and turn the shaft. However mine do not have this button, but are labelled up as Koni adjustables.
Cheers
James
I bought one from Evil Ice for my MK1.
Good quality kit, are parts included and very cheap at that price.
The parcel shelf was well packaged and the service I got on the phone was very good.
I havent got round to fitting it yet, but Ill post when I do.
James
I have just lowered my car using a Koni adjustable kit.
Koni quote that the springs on the front will lower the car by up to 40mm.
Does it take some time before I will see this type of drop at the front as it is nowhere near that at the moment.
Thanks
James
Done it, very easy. Only problem is I may have to raise the rear slightly as the front hasnt gone down by 30mm and I have lowered the rear by 30mm based on the front going down this far.
Will the front take time to settle and therefore end up lower over time and if so how long would it take...
Ive been using wood under the head of the jack and also on the axle stands under the sills.
I want to jack up the whole of the rear of the car in one go and support the car with axle stands under the rear sill jacking points.
Is there a central jacking point or strong area on the rear that I...
Its not WD-40, just couldnt remember the name of the stuff when I typed the original message, its some Castrol stuff, feels like Wd-40 though.
It does say its penetrating fluid on the can.
Ben, any idea what the best jacking point is?
Thanks
James
I have just changed the fronts for Koni adjustables.
It was quite an easy job, the only problem I had was removing the top mount, but once that was off it was pretty much plain sailing.
I fitted new bearings, rubbers and top mounts as well.
The difference that it has made is amazing.
The...
I havent got a clue which EBC pads they are. It probably said on the box, but I have thrown that away.
Just to clarify, they are pretty good from cold, but are much better once warmed up.
James
For all those interested, I cannot recommend doing this enough.
I have driven the car for a number of days now on all different types of road surface and I havent had any knocking at all.
The exhaust is a lot quiter now and is not boomy at all.
I have had a chance to look underneath the...
I have got to the bottom of the problem.
The Poly X bushes were too soft!!
I have had OE bushes fitted and all of the problems have gone.
I will be in contact with the supplier and the manufacturer as I want compensation for the extra expense that I have incurred as a result of having to...
I will be lowering the rear of my 16v this weekend.
I know that I need an M10 bolt, 2 nuts and also a 1/2" drive socket.
I need to know what size 1/2" socket do I need.
Thanks
James
I have just spoken to K-Tec who are listing this on their website for the 1.8 16v. It is not listed in the text, but there is an option to buy on-line.
They have told me that this should be available soon and have said that if I call back in a month, they can give me more of an idea.
James
The tail pipe on mine is within an inch of the rear bumper now, whereas before it was 2 1/2 - 3 inches lower. Therefore, I assume that the rest of the system is higher was well.
The system is very firm now. The problem I had was that the exhaust was moving and was is contact with the...
