A lot of it depends on driver skill/risk taking to be honest.
I think most people on here would respect the Fabia vRS, but I doubt two skilled/risk taking drivers would see any other result than the Clio being quicker point to point.
Out of interest, does the re-map on the vRS really...
If you do less than about 15,000 miles a year, the saving you make from fuel would be offset by the higher purchase and servicing costs.
My other half has a 1.2 8v Authentique (bottom of the range) - it does about 55mpg on average and we got from south Wales to Salisbury and back on less than...
The Clio Mk2 in Dynamique flavour is a nice car. Id pass on the tints and get some discreet lowering springs - the overall look of the car is fine apart from that.
I need a new disc but cant get to a Post Office until Saturday - Im not worried though as Im parked off road. Unfortunately Im going to be renewing the tax in Bristol, but only have the documentation in Welsh! Hope they can understand it with my aid!
The best tax disc was a blue one with...
Theres so much variation with Police. Particularly when I had my Williams, I was followed regulalrly by traffic Police, but never pulled over. Theyd accerelerate up really close, presumably check my data/see if I panicked - and then back off. I got used to it and havent had it since selling...
Id want to see Renault prior to the 3 year mark (warranty) and then a specialist (e.g. HillPower, BB, Renatec etc) thereafter.
Receipts are what matter. I keep every one.
I have a brochure from 1995 for the Mk1 (when I had a 1.2 "Les Routiers" special edition 1.2 in Xerus Grey :D), which tells me that the RN models had power steering as standard - and electric windows as an option. The RN was one up from the base RL model, which only had PAS as an option with...
Its rumoured to be a special edition, which presumably means itll run alongside the 182 models.
The numbered plaque suggests to me that it will be a fairly low-volume model.
Hopefully itll capture some of the exclusivity of the Williams. IMO the successive 172/182 models have done...
The 172 proper has the auto lights and wipers. Have you been to see a 172 - or even a standard 172 Cup for that matter?
Theres a lot on the market at the moment and youd be wise to find the best you can for your money.
Ill bet that the TSW wheels arent fitted directly to the axles - TSW...
Id not sell that car unless you had a really good reason.
Ive sold two cars that I really miss - the Williams because I just fancied a change and the Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo because a 172 was more practical for me.
Dont sell a car you really love unless you are really sure.
Well, in our drive we have my other halfs Mk2 Ph2 1.2 Authentique and my Ph2 172. Both are blue - and we use both for shopping.
But I dont think many people would mistake them when theyre parked together! Fair play, my mums Ph3 Dynamique does have the same style wheels as my 172, but again...
Check my profile photo for my old black 16V with leather, which I had lowered a tad.
Fantastic cars. I really wish the 172/182 series had come with the bonnet bulge/scoop.
Fond memories.:D:(
I met Si about three or four years ago when I had my black 16V. He should remember me - he came over to Cardiff and we had a few "comparisons" through one of the tunnels there.
He really looked after the car (a 3 IIRC), but I always hated the wheels.
Between my family and other half, weve had eight Clios of all sorts since 1995 - and never had a major problem.
Just try owning an Italian car with a turbo, hideous repair costs and no warranty...youll soon get some perspective on the weeny niggles you may get the impression are a problem...
Very different cars - as everyone says. Id say it would be easier to source yourself a cared for 172/Cup though.
If you went for a Ph2 172 proper, youd not lose out on any toys that the Accord might have and its pretty civilised for what is still a balls-out hot hatch.
As it stands...
I did suspect that the Almera would have influenced your driving style - thankfully youre on board with a hot Clio now!
Id take your time if I were you to explore the full capabilities of what is an outstanding car outright, let alone hot hatch.
The car is naturally heavier at the front and Id say from experience of owning 4 Clios that it sounds usual.
I think it would be a good idea to take the car onto a track and learn where the limits are. The Clio Willy was always noted as being a great "on the limit" car where you could...
Gutted for you Aaron.
If its any consolation, one whole side of my car was re-sprayed while in the care of Dai - and its the best match Ive ever seen. My mums Dynamique has also just come back after a rear-ending and is perfect too.
Find a good place and youll never know it had been...
Sounds like the closest thing to a modern Williams to me (if it genuinely is a limited edition with different engine, interior, suspension, plaque etc.).
Lets hope its true. If it is, Ill be gutted that I didnt hang on longer before getting my latest car. :(
Ill be 1st in line for a...
