Visited my mate at work in Halfords yesterday and checked up on his progress with his Rover 216 Coupe.
The last time I saw him six months ago, the car was at a garage having a 2.2 lite VTEC engine from a Honda Prelude put in it! Anyway, they eventually gave up, so he took it to another...
Any help gratefully received!
1. My car seems to handle very strangely at the moment. The tracking has just been done, the tyres are new and the tyre pressures are all fine - but it seems to wander all over the place in no particular pattern and really cant brake in a straight line. This...
I was driving slowly out of Cardiff tonight along Newport Road - traffic light alley I call it as there are so many lights. Its a 30 limit, but becuase its usually at least two lanes wide, many people go way over the limit. All the boy racers go there for some traffic light grand prix action...
Just a couple of my Valver in its now perfect cosmetic state. I actually took loads of really good photos, but the disk I had them on packed in. These are what I could salvage (and one from Dazs collection). My baby was off the road from late November until last week. Hes called Holly...
By a Porsche 944!
Ive never been so comprehensively beaten in the whole time Ive had my 16v. I overtook at about 70mph on a motorway and then saw him accelerate to keep up. I dropped to 4th and I put up a good show until I changed into 5th at *15mph (bloody aerodynamics!). As soon as I...
I was on a road going out of Gloucester yesterday, when a black B-reg Japanese coupe glued itself to my arse with a dump valve hissing away. At the first safe opportunity, I floored it and very slowly edged ahead of him.
When we got to a dual carriageway, he stuck to my rear again and then...
My trusty 10" sub seems to have given up the ghost (the amp is getting power, but the sub isnt working).
So whats a good 10" sub to go inside a sealed box?? Reasonable prices please!
I dont know much about ICE: I used to work with some people who knew their stuff and they used to get me...
After finally getting the wheels on my car and being totally ready for the Midlands RR day, my alarm has decided to pack up!!!!!
Its a META M99/36T Cat 1 model.
Basically, the system works off the remote fob; but the immobiliser can also be over-riden by another fob that slots directly...
My car has been more or less standing since late November, nearly 3 months in all! Ive used it once or twice to take it to the bodyshop on a very short, 1/4 mile journey, but thats been it. Ive also started the car about once every ten days to keep the electics running through the winter...
As many of you know, my car has been off the road for some time now while Ive been working on it. For the past few weeks, the wheels have been off and I wont get them back for about another week yet (being refurbed).
Ive just been outside and noticed that my brake pads are all stuck to the...
My car is on axle stands at the moment, while the wheels are away being refurbished. I decided today to start the engine and let it idle for a while as I havent driven the car in a few weeks.
When I did this, I noticed that the driveshaft started turning by itself - rotating the discs in...

Just thought Id share some of the glory days of the Mk1 Clio with you all.
Whens the last time you saw a FWD hatch keeping up with the WRC 4WD nutter crew like this!:
Monte Carlo Rally (21st - 26th January)
1.
Sainz / Moya
Subaru Impreza 555
6hrs 32mins 31secs

Just secured Nick Reads old airbox, so Im hoping to put the whole induction versus airbox on a 16v/Willy to bed. The only thing is that I need a new element to go inside it - so which one is best?
I think Im going to have it on for the forthcoming Midlands rolling road day in February. But...
On my way back from Halfords to pick a few bits and bobs today in Bristol, I saw a black 106 GTi in my mirrors bombing up behind me. He went to overtake me on the dual carriageway, but slowed up real quick as soon as he saw my car. It was the bloke who had sold me my 16v, about 18 months ago...

...I mean a really good one on a really good road.
Found myslef in mid Wales today - the roads are ace! The highlight was the A465 between Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny: billiard table smooth new tarmac and proper switchbacks. Scenery to match too - snow on the hills and no surface water...

Ive had this problem for a while now. For a few minutes on start up the engine splutters and coughs.
You can often feel at the tail pipe that theres pressure, then none, then pressure, then none and so on until it settles down. Im not sure if its misfiring as such, but its failry violent...
Raced one the other day on a C-plate and totally destroyed it above 80mph (had a load of heavy stuff in the car and a roof rack on too). Was wondering what theyre like - I know it wasnt a turbo short-wheelbase version, but its got to be a 5-cylinder 2.2 jobbie?

After a lot of phone calls and debating with mechanics over the last week, I today found someone to fix my cylinder head without removing it. Im so happy, as some garages said Id have to junk my lovely moded head - and I certainly couldnt afford a new one.
So I got a £42 tow to the place on...

Having had a big bang, followed by rampant misfires while driving, I limped my car home (was fortunately only 1/4 mile away). I wasnt caning the car at the time.
I initially thought it might be the head gasket, but none of the associated symptoms were present.
So I looked at my ignition...
