Mate thats awful - they are just trying to squeeeeeeze every last penny outa you! You should try a country dealer (if you can find one!) I drive a clio 95 valva and renault tried the same thing on me - went to an independant garage and it was soooooooo much cheaper - they also dont try and...
Nah, my light goes on and off as it please when im low on fuel - depends on how u drive the thing and wether ure on a hill or not! The guage certainly isnt the most accurate thing in the owrld but i managed to do about 20miles when the light was on and off once - not fun, but doable so long as...
It was just at the top of the piston - as u probably know, the pistons on a valva have slight indentations drilled into them by the factory for the valves to hit safely without causing any damange - i had a slight dent just bellow the factory drilled dent - just wondered if it would be a prob...
It took a while - the main prob was getting the right tools - my neighbour had a torx rench which was helpful - the hardest part was getting the covers back on and realighning the down pipe to the manifold - other than that tho it was all pretty self explanatory - the head weighs a ton!! Since...
Well, got a haynes manual and just followed that with my dads help - it really and truly wasnt that bad even tho valvas are hard to find space to work on - it was simply just a dent - had a proffesional mechanic have a look (family friend) and he said that he thought it would be fine. Just...
Just a quickie - after i had got the head off me valver i did notice one dent in the third cylinder where a valve had hit when the cam belt went - obviously i have put a new head on and the chip was only about half the diametre of the valve that hit but all the same it has bugged me! Will it...
i knew absoloutely nothing about car engines but two weeks ago i finally managed to get a new head put on my 16V. Haynes manual is brilliant and in 8 days i had managed to replace a cam belt - alternator belt - gaskets and head. It REALLY isnt as bad as everyone is saying - just follow the book...
the idea with the insulation tape is a goodun too - make sure it doesnt come off and make sure you dont whack the window if ya slip - bit obvious really!
It should be loose - just reconeccted my down pipe to me manifold and it only moves an inch or two - that will be ure knocking noise - it will be banging against something!
Ill be selling me car soon and wanted an idea of price - 1.8 16V 95 m reg, 97k new head, new cam belt, new timing belt, new gasketts, new exhaust, 17" Oz deap dish (grey ones) with Avon tyres, Red taxed + motd end of year. Great condition in and out?

Someone has had my mk 2 16V red mirror trims and i wondered if anybody had soe for sale? pretty desperate as me car looks sh*te without em? much obliged.
U may have a real prob here - the bolts could be chewed and de-threaded - u may have to get brutal and prise the things out wit a hammer - then get a bigger bolt with washer behined it to secure the thing back in- i had something similar in me valva where i had to do this but it worked - if you...
Wanna be careful with that! it may look a little tacky - the mirrors may look a little too stuck on if you know what i mean - a bit outa place! culd be verey wrong tho - not seen it before!
its fine mate - my chum had a sunny GTIR and that did it all the time - its simply just a loose wire into teh speedo sensor - cheal to get fixed but id take it to a garage if you dont know how - can be tricky! ure car certainly wont break down!
